(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Fellow in Organic Chemistry

The Deo group in Heidelberg is seeking a post-doctoral fellow with a strong background in synthetic chemistry. We are a dynamic and interdisciplinary group, working at the interface of chemistry and biology, working on the development molecular tools tailored for biological imaging. More information on the group can be found here: https://www.embl.org/groups/deo/ This full-time postdoctoral position is funded as part of the IMAGINE consortium (https://www.embl.org/about/info/imagine/), aiming at develop imaging technologies for biology across scales. As part of this large collaborative and interdisciplinary project, our group focuses on the development of new molecular tools. The post-doctoral fellow will primarily synthesize and characterize new fluorophores, and is expected to work in close collaboration with other groups at EMBL to test and characterize them in microscopy assays.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellowship: spatial and single-cell computational biology for precision oncology

We apply modern single-cell resolution omics and spatial assays (incl. CITE-Seq and highly multiplexed immunohistochemistry) to characterise tumours and their microenvironments within a prospective clinical study of patients treated with BsAbs. This work takes place within the Transcan-3 project Bispecific antibodies in Lymphoma: Microenvironmental profiling to predict treatment response and uncover immunogenic resistance mechanisms (BIALYMP). This international collaboration combines biotechnological and computational research groups with clinical oncologists and is coordinated by Wolfgang Huber (EMBL). We are looking for a computational biologist / bioinformatician who will combine data-driven biological discovery research, requisite computational or statistical method development, and central management and integrative analysis of the research data. The position provides excellent opportunities for complementing your existing skills with new ones, building up your research profile in computational biology and biomedicine, and making a real contribution to improving patient outcomes.

About The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Germany – Official Website

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a molecular biology research institution supported by 27 member states, two prospect states, and one associate member state. EMBL was created in 1974 and is an intergovernmental organization funded by public research money from its member states. Research at EMBL is conducted by approximately 85 independent groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. The list of independent groups at EMBL can be found at www.embl.org. The Laboratory operates from six sites: the main laboratory in Heidelberg, and sites in Hinxton (the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), in England), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain). EMBL groups and laboratories perform basic research in molecular biology and molecular medicine as well as train scientists, students, and visitors. The organization aids in the development of services, new instruments and methods, and technology in its member states. Israel is the only full member state located outside Europe.
