PhD position summary/title: PhD Position in the Treatment and Diagnosis of soil-transmitted helminth infections
The Department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology (MPI) explores the biology of patho-gens that cause diseases of poverty, aiming to develop new diagnostic tools, drugs, and vaccines. Within the Helminth Drug Development Unit of MPI, we are offering a PhD Position in the Treatment and Diagnosis of soil-transmitted helminth infections for a dedicated multidisciplinary scientist. The position is based in Allschwil in the group of Jennifer Keiser.

PhD position summary/title: PhD Student in Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology
The position is linked to the “Exclusive breastfeeding: global rates, optimal duration, and a multi-country intervention” project which is funded under the Ambizione program of the Swiss National Sci-ence Foundation. The project is done in collaboration with the University of São Paulo and the Lao Tropical and Public Health Institute. The overall objectives of this project are to: 1) empirically assess the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding duration and child health and development; 2) create updated and comparable estimates for compliance with recommendations at national, regional and global levels; and 3) implement an innovative intervention to optimize exclusive breastfeeding in two middle-income countries with low exclusive breastfeeding rates.

PhD position summary/title: PhD position on molecular mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer using genetic screens and 3D tissue-engineered constructs
A PhD position is available in the laboratory of Professor Momo Bentires-Alj (https://bentireslab.org/) at the Department of Biomedicine (DBM) in Basel, Switzerland. The successful candidate will study molecular mechanisms of resistance to breast cancer therapy using bioengineered ex vivo cultures of patient breast tissues, clonal barcoding, CRISPR-Cas9 libraries, mouse models, and image-based drug screening (Pharmacoscopy).

We are seeking applicants for a four-year PhD position within the Center for Psychology of Sustainability and Behavior Change led by Prof. Ulf Hahnel at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Basel, Switzerland. The newly founded center conducts research on the cognitive and affective mechanisms underlying sustainable decision making and develops evidence-based means to promote more sustainable behavior around the world. The PhD project is conducted in close collaboration with the Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences led by Prof. Rui Mata at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Basel.
