The Smyth Lab at BDI is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow (Level A) to join a growing and ambitious research team investigating neuroimmune communication at the borders of the brain. This role offers an outstanding opportunity for an early career researcher to pursue high-quality independent research while contributing to the development and leadership of a fast-moving laboratory.

You will work on projects exploring how meningeal stromal and immune cells sense brain state, maintain barrier integrity, and contribute to neurological disease, including brain cancer and stroke. The lab integrates advanced imaging, omics approaches, mouse genetics and flow cytometry to uncover new principles of brain–immune interaction.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and talented individual to join the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences as a Research Fellow in the Medicinal Chemistry Theme. The development of anti-malarial agents has been a significant research area within the Faculty. Reporting to Professor Peter Scammells, the focus of the study will be the development of small molecule enzyme inhibitors which block the Malaria parasite’s ability to degrade haemoglobin and obtain amino acids needed for growth and survival.

As a Research Fellow your main responsibility will be the synthesis, purification, characterization and evaluation of novel PfM1 and M17 aminopeptidase inhibitors. This would include compound design, data management and analysis and sample preparation as well as a range of drug discovery-related activities.

You will play a key role in advancing agent-based travel demand modelling to help shape healthier, safer and more active cities. You will help build innovative modelling frameworks, analyse real-world mobility patterns, and translate evidence into decision-support tools use by partners to support investment and practice in active travel, road safety and climate action. You will contribute to high-impact publications, lead components of major projects, and work closely with partners who are ready to apply findings in the real world.

The Research Fellow will contribute to the School’s research efforts in combinatorics. This role involves working on a project concerning fractional edge decompositions of graphs, addressing well-studied open problems, and exploring related variants and special cases. The project is led by Daniel Horsley (Monash University), Darryn Bryant, Barbara Maenhaut (University of Queensland), and Peter Dukes (University of Victoria).

The Faculty of Engineering, within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, is seeking a standout Research Fellow to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Australia’s transition to green ironmaking by developing a quantitative framework that connects impurity content, process parameters and microstructural evolution to scalable, low-emission processing pathways. You will design and conduct laboratory experiments, apply advanced microstructural, thermodynamic and kinetic analyses, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team across academia and industry. This position forms part of a major national program in Australian green ironmaking and will utilise Monash’s world-class analytical capabilities and pilot-scale facilities.
