Deadline : December 31, 2033
(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate in Experimental Stroke Research
A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center. The on-going projects in the lab use murine models of ischemic stroke and cardiac arrest. We apply a wide spectrum of approaches, including molecular and immunologic methods, functional imaging, genetically modified mouse models, and behavioral tests. The main research project for this position is to understand the role of neuronal activity in functional recovery after ischemic stroke using a chemogenetic approach.
Deadline : July 1, 2023

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate
Dr. Sudha Shenoy’s laboratory is seeking a recent PhD graduate interested in the study of signaling and trafficking of seven-transmembrane/G-protein-coupled receptors (7TMR/GPCRs). 7TMRs/GPCRs are the largest and most diverse class of signaling receptors in the mammalian genome and the target of nearly half the drugs currently in use. We are interested in elucidating the roles of deubiquitinases in the regulation of GPCR and beta-arrestin signaling and trafficking mechanisms using both in vitro and in vivo model systems. A candidate who is highly motivated and shares a vision of excellence and commitment to research with a recent PhD in Pharmacology, Cell Biology or related discipline is preferred. Prior experience with mouse models is also preferred.
Deadline : July 31, 2023
(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate, Obstetrics and Gynecology
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a full time opening for a Postdoctoral Associate in the Division of Reproductive Sciences (Feng Lab). The postdoctoral associate will be working in the area of placental origins of disease, studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of regulation of placental function and to investigate the role of changes in placental function in the development of pregnancy complications and determining fetal development and long-term health. The Feng Lab employs physiological, molecular, and translational approaches. The lab utilizes a wide variety of model systems including primary human trophoblast cells, stem cells, human placental tissue, mice, rats, and rabbits. Current projects include 1) studies of the impact of perinatal PFAS exposure on placental function and early programming of fetal development, identifying mechanistic links between altered placental function, fetal growth, and adult health, placental-fetal signaling in modulating fetal immune and brain development; 2) studies of the roles of placental molecular signals in reproduction and neurobehavioral development in offspring using placental specific knockout mouse models. A principal investigator (Dr. Liping Feng) will supervise this position.
Deadline : July 30, 2023

About Duke University, North Carolina, USA – Official Website
Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment and the institution changed its name to honor his deceased father, Washington Duke.
Duke’s campus spans over 8,600 acres (3,500 hectares) on three contiguous sub-campuses in Durham as well as a marine lab in Beaufort. The West Campus—designed largely by architect Julian Abele, an African American architect who graduated first in his class at University of Pennsylvania School of Design—incorporates Gothic architecture with the 210-foot (64-meter) Duke Chapel at the campus’ center and highest point of elevation, is adjacent to the Medical Center. East Campus, 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) away, home to all first-years, contains Georgian-style architecture. The university administers two concurrent schools in Asia, Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore (established in 2005) and Duke Kunshan University in Kunshan, China (established in 2013).
Duke University is ranked among the top universities in the United States. Undergraduate admissions are among the most selective in the country. It spends more money conducting research than most other universities in the country and its researchers are among the most frequently cited. As of 2019, 15 Nobel laureates and 3 Turing Award winners have been affiliated with the university. Duke alumni also include 50 Rhodes Scholars, 25 Churchill Scholars, 13 Schwarzman Scholars, and 8 Mitchell Scholars. The university has produced the third highest number of Churchill Scholars of any university (behind Princeton and Harvard) and the fifth-highest number of Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, and Udall Scholars of any American university between 1986 and 2015. Duke is the alma mater of one president of the United States (Richard Nixon) and 14 living billionaires.
