(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Research Fellow

The Department of Health Services Research & Policy conducts research to understand health services and systems, alongside applied research to support clinicians, managers, and policymakers. Our work brings together a wide range of methods, including quantitative evaluation, policy analysis and qualitative studies, and teams from a wide range of disciplines.

We are recruiting a research fellow to contribute to the development and psychometric analysis of a new patient-reported experience measure (PREM) for maternity services in England.  The post holder will be supervised by a senior psychometrician (Dr Sarah Smith). The principal investigators are Associate Professors Sarah Smith and Ipek Gurol Urganci.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Research Fellow

We are looking for a Research Fellow in Epidemiology to work within the Beyond Cancer group, part of the wider Electronics Health Records team in the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology. The Beyond Cancer research group aims to understand the impact of the cancer diagnosis and treatments on the long-term physical and mental health of the growing numbers of cancer survivors in the population. The post-holder will investigate questions in this field, by carrying out epidemiological studies using large-scale electronic healthcare data resources, with a particular focus on the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD).

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join a dynamic team working on the ground-breaking Lancet Commission on Anti-Corruption in Health co-led by LSHTM and WHO. We seek to employ a team member with a relevant skillset and interest in anti-corruption in health systems, to help co-ordinate our team and liaise with high-level stakeholders, conduct rapid evidence syntheses, secondary data analyses, and contribute to writing the Commission report and journal papers.

The postholder will have a postgraduate degree and experience in health policy/ systems research, public health, or a related field. They will have a good knowledge of key issues in health policy and systems in diverse country settings (ideally low, middle and high-income), the role of politics in shaping health systems, and awareness of health sector corruption issues. The Research Fellow will have track record in conducting analytical reviews, working efficiently and independently, while collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and meeting tight deadlines. Experience of coordinating high-profile publications or projects to successful delivery, and writing academic outputs is key.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in EHR Research

We are seeking an enthusiastic and productive EHR epidemiologist or statistician interested in learning new skills and working with colleagues with a range of epidemiological backgrounds to join a team working on projects to advance the research agenda on health inequalities in England. 

The post-holder will join a project investigating socioeconomic and ethnic health disparities in respiratory virus burden and transmission. They will use OpenSAFELY for analysis of linked EHR data and will be responsible for identifying infection outcomes stratified by socioeconomic or ethnic groupings to quantify risk factors for increased infection burden. They will plan studies including choosing appropriate statistical and epidemiological study designs to answer research questions. There is scope for self-motivated research within the wider remit.
