(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Researcher in Laminar fMRI of Natural Auditory Scene Processing

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will take the lead in investigating how the brain represents and transforms acoustic signals into semantic understanding using advanced neuroimaging techniques, specifically laminar fMRI. You will work at the intersection of MR physics and cognitive neuroscience, collecting and analyzing high-resolution fMRI data acquired during passive and active listening tasks. You will also help integrating fMRI data with data from other modalities (iEEG, MEG) and deep neural network (DNN) predictions, collected within the project.

In addition to your research, you will play a key supervisory role, guiding PhD students and contributing to the refinement of theoretical and computational models of auditory scene analysis. You will collaborate closely with experts in neuroimaging, AI and psychoacoustics. This position is embedded in the NASCE project, a ERC-Synergy funded project by prof. Elia Formisano (Maastricht University) and dr. Bruno Giordano (CNRS, Marseille). You will work in Maastricht at the ARCHIE lab, under the supervision of Prof. Elia Formisano. The position offers access to a cutting-edge 7T scanner and ample research resources.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doc: chemical modification of starch

This post-doc position is part of the Interreg Flanders-the Netherlands project bioZet, where a consortium of academic and industrial partners work together. With the bioZet project, we join forces to create a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics. By valorizing sidestream potato starch – a residual product from the potato processing industry – we are taking an important step towards a green, circular and climate-neutral future. Our ambition goes beyond innovation: we develop biodegradable materials for a wide range of applications such as seed coatings, paper applications, packaging, rheological additives and biomedical 3D printing. At the same time, we are building new value chains that utilize local residual flows and strengthen cross-border cooperation. In this way, we contribute together to the realization of the European Green Deal – locally anchored, with European impact.

The task of Maastricht University is to do chemical modification of starch via green methods in order to prepare starch derivatives that are appropriate for specific applications like seed coatings, paper applications, packaging and rheological additives. The synthesis and characterization of the starch derivatives will be the core task of the post-doc. Samples will be exchanged with the industrial partners of the consortium for application testing, and new polymers will be developed based on the feedback of the application tests. Moreover, the post-doc will be involved in project management.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher on Women Migrants in Postwar Germany

The History Department is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to undertake in-depth research on women’s migration and work. You will be part of a new European Research Council-funded project entitled FeMMiWork: Women Migrants from the Northern Mediterranean and Work in Postwar Northwestern Europe.

Using a transnational lens, FeMMiWork investigates the experiences of women who migrated from Italy, Yugoslavia, and Turkey to France and Germany in the 1950s-1960s and who engaged in paid work. In spite of their large numbers, their labour has been largely erased by policymakers and forgotten by researchers who focused on male labour migration. Drawing on archival sources and oral history, the project aims to understand what role paid work played in migrant women’s life trajectories, and in shaping relations with their communities of origin and destination. The project also aims to make the histories of these women visible by creating a ‘counter-archive’ using documents, oral histories, and creative writing.

The postdoctoral researcher will focus on Germany as a destination society and place of work for migrant women. You will be part of a team which also includes a Principal investigator (focusing on France as a destination society and place of work, and on women from Yugoslavia), and two PhDs (focusing on women from Italy and Turkey.)

Deadline : 1 Sep ’25
