You will be working within the research environment Language and Culture, which comprises the fields of literary studies and language studies and interaction analysis. Your proposed project should be suitable for this research environment. An interest in inter- and multidisciplinary research and the dialogue between research areas and fields that characterizes the research environment Language and Culture is of great importance for the position.

For this position, we especially welcome projects focusing broadly on space and place, for example within spatial literary studies or geocriticism. The project can also deal with issues of place in relation to other theoretical perspectives and applied to contemporary as well as historical material.

A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time. As a postdoctoral researcher in this project, you will collaborate with medical and technical scientists, as well as clinical colleagues.

Pathology diagnostics is a central part of the clinical trajectory for many patients. Pathology involves microscopic study of human tissues and cell samples to detect and classify disease states. As imaging data increasingly is becoming digitized, there are ample opportunities for AI to diagnostically analyze the images – often at a level comparable to human experts. The potential benefits of AI are perhaps greatest in low-resource settings lacking medical resources, which is one target scenario for our research.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

AIR² is a five-year multidisciplinary national project financed by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous systems, and Software (WASP) whereby the postdoc will  have the opportunity of collaboration with top researchers within cybersecurity, networking, AI planning, and cloud computing, within the renowned AI group at our department as well as two other universities in Sweden (KTH and Umeå University). The project for which we are looking for new staff concerns the exploration of novel elemental 2D materials, inspired by our recent experimental discovery of single-atom-thick gold, namely golden (accepted in Nature Synthesis; patent pending). The synthetic strategy we have developed is a unique elaborate route comprising thin film deposition, thermodynamic interface reaction, and chemical etching.

A promising candidate will primarily optimize the deposition and subsequent physical-chemical processes to produce the elemental 2D materials; perform thorough characterization by electron microscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy, and other related techniques; and closely work with a theoretical team carrying out ab initio molecular dynamics and DFT simulations to elucidate the structural dynamics of the 2D materials.

Employment as a postdoctoral researcher in economics is available at the Division of Economics in the Department of Management and Engineering. This position is funded by the Catharina Högbom and Michael Cocozza Foundation for Research and Cultural Purposes in Linköping Municipality. While the research direction for the position is open and encompasses all areas in economics, including financial economics, it should be related to at least one goal in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The position involves conducting application-inspired basic research on thin film materials where the main goal is to develop new environmentally friendly surface coating processes with maintained layer quality, functionality and reduced energy consumption. The project is carried out in collaboration with a Swedish industrial company. Publication in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences are also expected from the successful candidate.
