(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctor in Cognitive Hearing Science Linkoping
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic postdoc to work on a project investigating cognitive factors for speech communication in acoustically adverse conditions, conducted in collaboration with Prof. Daniel Oberfeld-Twistel (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Germany). When following a speech conversation in an acoustically difficult situation like a crowded restaurant with a high amount of background noise (speech perception in noise; SPiN), the accuracy of speech identification depends on the hearing thresholds of a listener and suprathreshold auditory abilities (e.g., binaural sensitivity for the temporal fine structure). However, cognitive processes also play a crucial role in speech understanding. For instance, the Ease of Language Understanding model developed at our Division assumes a central role of working memory (WM) processes. In this project, we want to go beyond existing research by investigating in detail which specific memory processes, specific attentional mechanisms, and linguistic abilities are relevant for SPiN. To this end, the experiments conducted in the project will include tasks assessing the different cognitive processes related to WM (based on current WM models), different attentional networks, sensory memory, linguistic abilities, and relevant psychoacoustic characteristics of the participants (thresholds, suprathreshold processing). We envisage to use advanced regression methods (e.g., regularized regression, structural equation models) for investigating the relation between a) the cognitive and psychoacoustic indices and b) speech perception and listening effort measured in (simulated) conversational scenarios. Using interactive virtual reality (VR) approaches for these scenarios is desirable and possible, and including methods using automatic speech recognition and natural language processing would also be an interesting option.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in cognitive neuroscience
A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.
As part of your future tasks you will lead a project investigating social networks and loneliness in early adulthood. You will work as part of a research group investigating social and affective processes in healthy humans and how these manifest in the brain. The successful candidate will have the ability to adapt the focus of the project to suit their own interests.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in magnetic resonance imaging with elements of deep learning
This postdoc position is for a project that aims to develop a novel method to study heart valve disease using magnetic resonance (MR) flow imaging. The project will be conducted in a multidisciplinary research environment at the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (www.liu.se/cmiv) at Linköping University Hospital. The project focuses on the development of methods for the acquisition and analysis of disturbed blood flow in the heart using MR imaging. The work may include MR pulse programming and/or the use of deep learning for MR image reconstruction and analysis. The methods developed in the project will be applied in patients with valvular heart disease and healthy individuals. An integral part of the work is to publish the conducted research in scientific journals.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctor in sustainable resource management
The advertised position would work to develop and carry-out a study to evaluate the potential role of urban agricultural training as an experiential learning intervention to change attitudes and behaviors related to phosphorus management.
Transforming from today’s unhealthy and harmful food system to a sustainable one requires engagement all along the food chain, from farmers to consumers. Cities, as centres of food consumption and waste production, contribute to resource demand (e.g. mined phosphorus fertilizers) and pollution (e.g. phosphorus induced eutrophication of waterways). Despite their collective purchasing and voting power, urban consumers remain one of the most elusive actors to engage in deep sustainability transformation work. Experiential learning has successfully altered rural farmer nutrient management and met other citizen educational goals. However, it has not been tested as an intervention to change food consumer preferences and actions across scales. This project will test the hypothesis that training, in the context of urban agriculture as an experiential learning opportunity, can alter participant behaviours in their gardens, and their diet and waste management preferences beyond the garden.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Technology and Social Change
The selected candidate is expected to conduct research on questions that arise at the intersection between biomedicine and the humanities, particularly addressing epistemological questions when perspectives from the humanities and biomedicine are brought into dialogue with each other. As an example, this can include studies of epistemological perspectives and conditions when perspectives from the neurosciences and phenomenological philosophy are brought into such dialogue.
