(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Fellow at the Language acquisition and language processing lab

The Language Acquisition and Language Processing Lab (LALP) at NTNU is looking to hire a postdoc (100%) for a temporary position. The position is a fixed term position for a duration of 3 years. Appointment to the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow is mainly intended to provide qualification for work in top academic positions. No person may hold more than one fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same institution.

The main responsibility of the postdoc will be to conduct research in the newly awarded ERC Synergy grant SHAPE (https://www.ntnu.edu/shape/). This will involve (but is not limited to) designing behavioural and other studies of visuo-perceptual and language skills in toddlers at risk for autism, recruiting and testing participants, as well as data processing and analysis. The main goals of SHAPE are to map out the relationship between the visual perception of shape and its encoding across languages in the world and to identify the factors which constrain the observed cross-linguistic variation. SHAPE is also concerned with developmental trajectories in these domains and relies on tight collaboration with leading researchers in the field in the USA, the UK, Germany and France.

Deadline : 1st November 2025

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Researcher in Coordinated Converter Control for Stability and Power Quality in Inertia-Less Grids

With the European Union setting the ambitious goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050, and many other countries embracing similar policies to decarbonize electricity, supporting a more sustainable society, there is a significant need for technological advances and increased competitiveness to drive the growth of offshore renewable energies, and energy storage in the coming years.

Within this context, this research project will focus specifically on how multiple grid converter-interfaced assets should be controlled and coordinated in an inertia-less (or almost inertia-less) isolated power network, to ensure its stability and power quality compliance in relevant operating conditions.

Deadline : 22nd October 2025

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoktor i historie / samtidsarkeologi

Deadline : 20. oktober 2025

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: The Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management has a vacancy for a Researcher

NTNU is a partner in the EU-founded project ‘SingleTree’, lead by the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) and with research and industry partners in multiple European countries. The main purpose of the project is to optimize multifunctional forest-based value chains with single tree information and application of digital technologies with living lab sites in Sweden, Switzerland and Spain. See https://singletree.eu/ for more information on the project.

NTNU’s role is to develop and utilize life cycle assessments methods. In particular there is a need to focus on climate and carbon-related indicators, as well as different biodiversity indicators, to explore which are the most feasible and potentially further develop these. Environmental impact assessment will be used on both individual technologies and technologies implemented across value chains. In the project, remote sensing data will be collected and there is in particular a need to explore how these can be utilized in LCA and develop tools that enables protocols for single-tree environmental passports.

We are thus seeking a candidate with experience in mathematical modelling and programming skills, as well as an understanding of life cycle assessment methodologies, systems understanding and preferably an understanding of the climate and nature crisis.

Deadline : 12th October 2025

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Researcher in urban drainage modelling

This position is connected to the Horizon Europe project PIPEON (https://pipeon.eu/) – Robotics and AI for Sewer Inspection and Maintenance. The main work will be research on hydrodynamic modelling and flow monitor placement under the new information paradigm of autonomous robots. Autonomous robots in sewer systems will enable more freedom with regards to measure hydraulic parameters, either by using sensor data from the robots, or using the robots to install flow monitors at significantly lower costs. This increased flexibility will impact our understanding of how the sewer system hydraulics works, how to calibrate hydrodynamic models, and provide opportunities for interactions between the physical system and its digital twin.

Deadline : 6th October 2025

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Distributed Acoustic Sensing Related to CO2 Storage Monitoring

The department of Electronic Systems at NTNU has a vacancy for a Post doc position in the field of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS). The post doc will work in the CLIMIT DEMO project “Use of Fiber Optic Cables deployed at Seabed for Passive Seismic Monitoring of Northern Lights CO2 Project”. The project is lead by NORSAR and NTNU is one of 10 partners. Some of the project partners are industrial partners that are directly involved in the Northern Lights project (Equinor, Shell and Total). An overall objective for this project is to develop and test to what degree seabed fibre optic cables can be used to monitor earthquakes and microseismic events before, during and after CO2 storage operations offshore Norway. We will use conventional seismometers located onshore Norway and investigate to what extent a DAS-fibre can give more precise information about such events. In the project we will focus on characterization of offshore noise that might impact the DAS data and develop methods for reducing the impact of such noise. Mathematical methods to enhance and ease detection of minor events that might have implications for the management and handling of the CO2 storage project will be crucial. The post doc will work in close cooperation with The Centre for Geophysical Forecasting (CGF) at NTNU. CGF is a centre for research-driven innovation and is funded by the Research Council of Norway and industry partners.

Deadline : 6th October 2025
