Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Research Associate (Limited Term)

The Department of Molecular Genetics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto invites applications for the position of Research Associate (Limited Term) to participate in research focused on (i) the development of solution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for studies of high molecular weight complexes and liquid-liquid phase separation and (ii) application of the developed methodologies to CAPRIN ‘scaffold’, protein/RNA ‘client’ condensates currently under study in the laboratory.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Research Associate (1 Year Term) – 50% FTE

The Montague group in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) is looking to fill a Research Associate  (1-Year Term) – 50% FTE position immediately. The group carries out research in the area of automation and healthcare.

 

The Research Associate will work directly under the supervision of Dr. Enid Montague of the MIE Department on a project of automation of primary care services and work. The duties will include: developing and executing research vision with PI to achieve research goals, directing junior lab members, designing and setting up community based participatory research studies, carrying out design sessions, analyzing results, preparing reports and presentations for partners, interacting with industrial and academic partners, developing research proposals and funding applications, and authoring scientific publications and conference talks.  The Research Associate is expected to publish both at conferences and in journals.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate (Limited Term)

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a 6 month appointment at 0.5 FTE. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.

This six-month, half-time position is with the Wheeler group in the Department of Chemistry (https://microfluidics.utoronto.ca/). The candidate is expected to independently carry out research projects in mass spectrometry and proteomics. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for designing and executing, and interpreting nanoflow HPLC-MS/MS proteomics experiments on mass-limited samples. Deep experience with operating, maintaining and troubleshooting of cutting-edge mass spectrometers is required for this position. In addition to experimental work, the candidate will assist in training students, liase with academic and industry collaborators, and contribute to communications (papers and presentations at conferences).

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate Part/Time TERM

The University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) is the second-largest division of the University of Toronto, Canada’s preeminent research institution. Since 2014, the LGBQT Oral History Digital Collaboratory is a training ground for undergraduate and graduate students and an active research project that collects, preserves gay, queer, and trans life stories, using new methodologies in digital history, collaborative research, and archival practice. The research has been funded by SSHRC Insight Grants since 2014 and has included numerous collaborators and archival partners in the US and Canada over the last 10 years. 

As principal investigator (PI), Professor Elspeth Brown invites applications for the position of a Research Associate to take on a leadership role in managing this highly interdisciplinary research environment. Under the guidance of Professor Brown, the incumbent will be primarily responsible for pushing forward the research vision of the SSHRC-funded LGBQT Oral History Digital Collaboratory Project (2020-2025).

The LGBQT Oral History Digital Collaboratory Project is a public history initiative that uses emerging strategies in digital research creation to reach broader publics about the queer and trans past. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in LGBQT history of the US and Canada; in oral history praxis; in data management and ethical data protocols; in digital media creation; and in digital media communication. They will have substantial experience in facilitating collaborations among researchers as well as in supervising work-study students.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Assoc-Term

The university’s second largest division, U of T Mississauga has 17 academic departments and offers 156 programs in 92 areas of study. Home to approximately 15,000 students and over 1,000 faculty and staff, the campus houses the Mississauga Academy of Medicine, Centre for Medicinal Chemistry and Institute for Management and Innovation. With its distinctive interdisciplinary programs such as forensic sciences and biomedical communications, U of T Mississauga offers a broad array of continuing education programs and professional masters programs. Established in 1967, the campus features award-winning architecture, robust community partnerships and a dynamic student environment set amongst 225 acres along the Credit River in Mississauga.

Research Associate (Limited Term) in the research area of neuromuscular function and development, working in the laboratory of Professor Bryan Stewart at the University of Toronto Mississauga. The Stewart Lab was established in 2001 and is focused on the molecular, genetic and cellular mechanisms by which neuromuscular systems develop and function. Using both Drosophila melanogaster and human tissues grown in culture, research in the lab is aimed at understanding the fundamental biological principles that govern how these tissues grow and work together. In the last 5 years the lab has turned towards understanding muscle disease, particularly Duchenne muscular dystrophy, in collaboration with Professor Penney Gilbert.

The ideal candidate for the position will have a PhD and postdoctoral experience in this research area and demonstrated technical skills as described below.  While the main location of this research is located at UTM the successful candidate must be able to travel to specialized research facilities at other locations, particularly the electron microscopy facility located at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
