(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Researcher for Machine Learning for Personalised Effect Estimation of Multi-domain Lifestyle Interventions in Cognitive Health

Are you a Postdoc with an interest in developing, studying, and applying machine learning methods for personalized effect estimation? Do you want to use data from both a large interventional study and observational data on the cognitive decline? If so, you have a part to play! We are looking for a Postdoc who wants to work with our leading experts on machine learning.

Deadline : 08 January 2023

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher at the Donders Centre for Cognition

We are only slowly beginning to understand the different ways in which long-term memories can be formed and retained. Different memory systems in our brain (e.g. the hippocampus and neocortical structures) are involved, depending not only on whether and how long ago the information was learned, but probably also depending on the individual learner, the type of learning material, and on the learning situation.

Deadline : 28 November 2022

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Researcher in Reinforcement Learning at the Donders Centre for Cognition

The AI Department of the Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC), embedded in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, is looking for a tenure track researcher in reinforcement learning with an interest towards applications in neurotechnology. You will be part of the Dutch DBI2 consortium, which is a multi-year/multi-institute project aimed at understanding brain function from a computational and mechanistic perspective.

Deadline : 23 November 2022

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Neuroscience: effects of neuromodulation on balanced networks

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the Vidi project ‘Top-down neuromodulation and bottom-up network computation, a computational study’ and study the effects of neuromodulators in balanced networks. You will use cellular and behavioural data on the effects of dopamine, acetylcholine and serotonin in mouse barrel cortex gathered by our department over the past five years, to bridge the gap between single cell, network and behavioural effects.

Deadline : 01 December 2022

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher for Molecular Mechanisms of Motor Neurodegeneration

We are recruiting an ERC-funded postdoctoral researcher who will work independently on Drosophila genetics projects. Your main project will use reverse genetic approaches to model familial forms of motor neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases in Drosophila. You will evaluate the disease-relevance of the obtained knock-in Drosophila models by behavioural analysis, immunohistochemistry (IHC), confocal imaging and in vivo noncanonical amino acid tagging (NCAT) approaches. Finally, for valid disease models, you will dissect the underlying molecular mechanisms of disease using Drosophila genetic approaches complemented with behavioural analysis, IHC, FISH, imaging, molecular biology, biochemistry, and next-generation sequencing. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other ongoing projects in the lab, for example by studying the molecular pathogenesis of CMT peripheral neuropathy associated with mutations in tRNA synthetases, following up on our recently published work (Zuko, Mallik et al, Science, 2021), or characterising genes identified in a forward genetic screen for genes required for maintenance of peripheral motor and sensory axons (unpublished). You will have the opportunity to collaborate with and supervise Master’s students, and in the longer run also PhD candidates. You will get some exposure to teaching in Master’s courses. Eventually, the development of an independent research project that can be transferred to a future position is possible and highly encouraged.

Deadline : 30 November 2022

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher: Testing Cross-Linguistic Gesture-Speech Alignment with Motion-Tracking at Donders Centre for Cognition

We are looking for an experienced postdoctoral researcher who will work on a cross-linguistic investigation of gesture-speech alignment. This position is funded by the ‘HearingHands’ ERC Starting Grant awarded to Dr Hans Rutger Bosker. HearingHands investigates how the temporal alignment of hand gestures and speech contributes to audiovisual spoken communication across languages, populations and communicative settings.

Deadline : 01 December 2022

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher: Testing Audiovisual Gesture-Speech Integration in MEG

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will use rapid invisible frequency tagging (RIFT) in MEG to pinpoint the neurobiological mechanisms underlying gesture-speech integration. Specifically, you will test how simple up-and-down beat gestures influence lexical stress perception in real time, using the ‘manual McGurk effect’ (Bosker & Peeters, 2021, Proc Roy Soc B). Furthermore, you will compare typical behavioural and neural signatures of gesture-speech integration to those in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who are known to demonstrate impairments in prosody processing and audiovisual integration. Finally, you will run a large-scale correlational study testing whether the participants’ own gestural timing behaviour is linked to their use of gestural timing in audiovisual speech perception.

Deadline : 01 December 2022
