(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in eye research
In the mammalian eye, the iris sphincter muscle regulates the size of the pupil, which in turn controls the influx of light to the retina. Traditionally, the pupillary light reflex (PLR) has been considered a brain-mediated reflex. More recent data from animal studies show that the iris can intrinsically respond to light to regulate the PLR independent of signals from the brain. Our recent publication has presented new mechanisms regulating, among others, synchronized pupil dilation and contraction in mouse (Sghari et al., 2020), but more details remain to be defined. Thus, the main focus of this project is to understand molecular mechanisms that control light dependent regulation of the PLR, but also other eye related mechanisms and its possible relation to eye diseases are of interest to understand.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position, 2 years, to The Department of Molecular Biology
We are an interdisciplinary team of experimentalists, analysts and modellers, who work together closely to address important questions of malaria parasite development and transmission. We are now looking for an experimental geneticist for projects funded by the European Research Council and the Wallenberg Foundation. Aim of the position is to study the biology of sexual development and transmission of malaria parasite and their interactions with the vector. We seek to gain a genome-level mechanistic understanding of malaria transmission to get at the questions of vector competence and develop transmission blocking strategies.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post doctor (2 years) in visualisation and learning
The position is at the Department of Science and Mathematics Education (NMD) at Umeå University. The research will be conducted largely at the Curiosum science center at Umeå University. As a research environment, in addition to NMD and Curiosum, the Department of Physics and EISCAT’s headquarters in Kiruna (located at the Institute for Space Physics) will also contribute. Together they form a stimulating and international research environment. At the NMD, teaching and research is conducted around learning in natural sciences, technology and mathematics (UmSER). Curiosum is a public science center where a dome theater provides excellent opportunities for visualization of scientific data, and also houses other infrastructure for exploring and discovering science and technology in interactive forms. Curiosum is part of a national project on scientific visualization in immersive environments, Wisdome. At the Department of Physics, the space physics group studies naturally occurring plasmas in the solar system, especially the interaction between the sun and the Earth’s magnetic field. EISCAT’s headquarters are at the Institute for Space Physics in Kiruna, which conducts research in solar and space science.
