A postdoctoral researcher position is available to work jointly in the Noguera lab and the Donohue lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as part of the Department of Energy-funded Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (www.glbrc.org). Start date – September 1, 2024.
We seek a motivated candidate to join our labs to develop processes for microbial conversion of lignin-derived aromatic compounds to valuable products.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Optimizing bioreactor operations to achieve high productivity rates.
- Develop strategies for efficient delivery of aromatic streams to microbial cultures.
- Develop strategies for efficient recovery of products after microbial production.
- Contribute to improvement of microbial strains.

The candidate would work within a dynamic and vibrant lab with a proven track record of outstanding achievements and contributions in translational biomedical research. This position allows the candidate to contribute bold and innovative research that can be translated to new approaches to treatments for patients.
This position’s primary focus in the lab will be to lead and to participate in projects based on candidate’s desire concentrated on investigating genetics of Huntington disease, molecular mechanisms of Huntington disease pathogenesis and development of novel therapeutics. Using the wide network of connections and collaborations of the principal investigator, and extensive biomedical resources at the institution, candidates will be able to build on the existing research of the lab to quickly start up their own research projects.
The position will provide a unique opportunity for mentoring trainees, supervising technicians and interacting with industry. This is an excellent platform to receive outstanding training to gain the important skills for a successful medical research career in academia or industry.
This full-time grant funded position with the University of British Columbia, Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, allows the candidate to flourish under the guidance of an experienced mentor who is the most cited author in the field of Huntington Disease.
This position is located within a health-care facility, therefore, the successful candidate will be required to provide verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 provided prior to the start date, as required by a provincial health mandate.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – WELLINGTON LABORATORY
Fluid biomarkers can provide a detailed picture of neurological health and disease using relatively low-cost, accessible, objective, and scalable tools. There has been a rapid expanse of research into candidate blood-based biomarkers that show utility for the diagnosis and prognosis of neurological conditions. This position will focus on the statistical analysis for multiple projects involving large scale databases from various cohorts, including but not limited to traumatic or hypoxic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, Multiple Sclerosis and healthy aging. The postdoctoral fellow will oversee their own individual project, to be developed in collaboration between the supervisor and a successful candidate. They will also provide guidance to lab members for other projects.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS ON CRITICAL METALS IN CANADA SEDIMENTARY ROCKS
We are seeking two postdoctoral researchers to work with several faculty and students in partnership with Fireweed Minerals, Teck Resources and the geological surveys of British Columbia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
One postdoctoral researcher will focus on understanding the basin environment into which sediment-hosted critical mineral deposits in the Selwyn Basin are hosted, with a particular focus on developing a detailed basin subsidence history, and would suit an individual with a background in sedimentology and basin studies. The other postdoctoral researcher will focus on understanding the mineralogy and geochemistry of sediment-hosted critical mineral deposits to understand what controls metal endowment and distribution at varying scales.
