PhD position summary/title: PhD position in Scandinavian Studies
As part of the binational research project, you will work on a part project on the development of terms and concepts of textual criticism avant la lettre in the works of Dano-Icelandic manuscript collectors and proto-philologists at the beginning of the history of Old Norse studies in the 17th and 18th centuries. This project will focus on the manuscript tradition and printed texts in the circles of Árni Magnússon and Thormod Torfæus. The concrete scope of the part project will be developed conjointly. The dissertation can be written in German or English.

PhD student position is available to extend ongoing research on the development of novel algorithms for drug design combining physics-based modeling with deep neural network concepts. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of novel deep neural network models based on recent developments in normalizing flows, transformer models, graph neural networks, diffusion models and GFlowNets. Existing collaborations with experimental research groups will facilitate the application and testing of novel algorithms in real life settings.

The Center for Social Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Basel is recruiting for a full-time PhD position (100%) starting January 1st, 2024, or later. The PhD position is part of an exciting research project on interpersonal and generalized trust funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project uses experiments and survey data to investigate the impact of experiences of betrayal (i.e., breach of trust) on the propensity to trust uninvolved others. The project also offers the opportunity to develop and pursue own research questions that expand the state of knowledge on trust.

The INS is ranked in the top 50 for Nursing worldwide (Shanghai Ranking 2022). The position will be anchored in the NIP-Q-UPGRADE program, commissioned by the Federal Quality Commission to ARTISET with the industry association CURAVIVA and senesuisse and implemented in collaboration with the INS, the Institut et Haute École de la Santé La Source and Scualo universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana. PhD position summary/title: PhD student – molecular microbiology of bacterial biofilms
The research group of Knut Drescher (https://drescherlab.org) focuses on understanding the development and functions of bacterial biofilms, particularly in the context of human infections, using controlled laboratory experiments or clinical samples. Biofilms are antibiotic-tolerant bacterial communities that are the cause of many chronic and acute infections, but biofilms are also a model system for understanding basic aspects of multicellular organization in bacteria. The PhD projects on bacterial biofilms be within the broad set of topics investigated within the research group, and will require a background in molecular microbiology. The exact projects are flexible and will be developed together with Knut Drescher, depending on the strengths and interests of the PhD students.
