(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doctoral Research Scholar
We seek an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Scholar to conduct NSF-funded independent research in the areas of geospatial modeling, nutrient biogeochemistry, and environmental/agricultural data analysis. The project will involve collection and curation of soil phosphorus data, developing models to predict soil P at high resolution across the US, and interfacing the models with other national P models to develop inventories to develop comprehensive P budgets. Opportunities exist to interact closely with a group of distinguished intramural and extramural collaborators working all aspects of phosphorus sustainability. The position is under the direction supervision of Dr. Owen Duckworth in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences but will collaborate closely with Drs. Natalie Nelson and Dan Obenour from the Departments of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering. It is funded through the newly established NSF Science and Technologies for Phosphorus Sustainability (STEPS) Center (https://steps-center.org/), headquartered at a new intersectional working space on NC State’s Centennial Campus (https://cals.ncsu.edu/psi/psb). Interested applicants should be available to start as soon as possible. The position is supported through the through October 2024, with the possibility of renewal based on funding. The Postdoc will lead efforts associated with collecting and curating soil phosphorus data, and developing models to predict soil P at high resolution across the US. In collaboration with other team members, the postdoctoral scholar will integrate their research with a comprehensive P budget model and data visualization efforts. This will involve diverse skills — not only hard research skills like GIS and coding but also soft skills, including reaching out to other collaborators and interfacing with stakeholders.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar – Kannapolis Research
The NC State University Plants for Human Health Institute (PHHI) is an established Institute located on the NC Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC. The NC Research Campus was created to have all aspects of human health and nutrition in one place complimented by multiple state and private entities providing academic and research resources. The PHHI currently houses researchers and staff from various departments, including the Department of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry, Horticulture Science, Food Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences, Plant and Microbial Sciences, Animal Science, Cooperative Extension, and NCARS. A postdoctoral position in Nutritional Biochemistry is available to join the laboratory of Dr. Eroglu, from the Plants for Human Health Institute and the Department of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry at North Carolina State University. The successful candidate in this position will focus on the effects of dietary bioactive compounds on metagenomics, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Initially, studies will utilize cell-based assays on the ability of phytochemicals to modulate transcription factors. Subsequently, the combination of in vitro, animal, clinical, and epidemiologic studies will be employed to understand the role of phytochemicals in maintaining optimal human health.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doctoral Research Scholar
The FPACLAB at North Carolina State University is seeking an early career scientist to develop a radio-frequency (RF), inductively-coupled ion source for application in neutral beam heating systems. This includes the design, procurement, installation and operation of vacuum, gas handling and high power RF systems. Opportunities exist to interact closely with a group of distinguished national and international collaborators working on all aspects of neutral beam heating systems. The position is under the supervision of Dr. Florian Laggner (FPACLAB lead) and will be based at the Department of Nuclear Engineering in Raleigh, NC. The FPAC lab research focus can be summarized into the following key areas: – Fusion Plasma Physics: The lab conducts fundamental research on plasma edge of magnetically confined fusion plasmas with particular emphasis on understanding the performance and plasma exhaust. – Fusion Technology and Diagnostics: The FPACLAB members work on developing auxiliary systems such as ion sources for neutral beam injectors and diagnostic tools to measure plasma properties in the edge boundary layer. Auxiliary heating systems help to sustain and control high temperature fusion plasmas and diagnostics enable researchers to better understand the plasma behavior and improve the performance of fusion devices.
