(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Researcher in Microstructural characterization of steels deformed in hydrogen conditions
We have a vacancy for a Researcher in Microstructural characterization of steels deformed in hydrogen conditions, at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The position is funded by Horizon Europe and is a collaborative project with several academic and industrial partners. Information about the project can be found at its website (https://hywayproject.eu/).
The position is a temporary position limited for 2 years.
The successful candidate will conduct research using a multiscale characterisation approach to gain a better understanding of the failure mechanisms of steels in different hydrogen environments. This work will form the basis for understanding the deformation of metallic alloys in hydrogen environments, as well as for simulations for the project’s partners.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in mathematical cognition
How do people link abstract numbers to concrete quantities in the real world?
This postdoctoral position is part of an ongoing project exploring how people estimate quantities. The project combines theoretical modeling with behavioral experiments to advance our understanding of the cognitive processes that connect our sense of magnitude with mathematical thinking, and their role in the development of numerical competence. The postdoc will investigate the role of cognitive heuristics and visual memory in numerical judgments, with a focus on disentangling the relative contributions of domain-general versus number-specific processes.
Deadline : 1st September 2025

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Science, Sociology, or Media and Communication Research
The post doc position is connected to ongoing research addressing democracy as a social phenomenon. This research is focused on the complexities of the threats and multiple deficiencies of democracy in an age of “post-democracy” and “managed democracy”. The post doc will especially address the urgent need for and emerging practices of “democratic innovation” and reinvention. The position is linked to the newly established NTNU Team on “Democratic resilience” as well as the “Democracy Lab” These initiatives address the urgent need for democratic innovation and resilience as democratic ideals, practices, and institutions face increasing threats.
The post doc will examine the crisis of democracy and the rise of democratic innovations through ethnographic approaches, understood in broad and innovative ways. The position will be part of the research group “Ethnography” at the department, and might be active in other groups as well. The overarching goal is to develop and strengthen the research group’s competence in the area of methodology and democratic challenges and innovations, in close collaboration with sociology and political science expertise at ISS, nationally and internationally. The group also seeks to contribute to knowledge production in interdisciplinary democratic theory, innovative methodological and democratic experiments, and to maintain a close collaboration with local and national authorities in Norway and international actors on this topic.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Researcher in Flow-chemistry-based High Throughput Experimentation
A Researcher position is available at the Department of Chemistry, NTNU, involving the development and application of high-performance flow reactors for High Throughput Experimentation. The post is funded by the Research Council of Norway and will have a duration of at least two-years and up to four years for an exceptionally qualified candidate.
The job will be based in the NorHTE laboratory within the department of Chemistry at NTNU, Trondheim. The project will focus on the development of automated and self-optimising flow-reactors for a range of advanced functional materials. Specifically, it will involve the use and adaptation of commercial reactors, the design and construction of bespoke chemical reactors, the development of real-time instrumentation for analysing product properties, and the development of software routines for optimising product properties. The overall aim is to develop a new generation of self-optimising reactors that are capable of rapidly and reliably exploring extremely large chemical parameter spaces in search of materials with highly optimised physico-chemical properties. The Researcher will be closely involved in setting up the flow-chemistry facilities at NorHTE and will collaborate with many of its academic and industrial users.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral fellow position in the borealization of terrestrial ecosystems
The postdoctoral fellowship position is a three-year temporary position where the main goal is to qualify for work in senior academic positions.
The NTNU University Museum is looking for an energetic and ambitious ecologist with excellent organizational and communication skills. The postdoctoral position is part of the Nordic Borealization Network, a NordForsk funded University Cooperation Network.

These shifts include the encroachment of woody species (treeline advance and shrub expansion), spread of non-native species, and changes in the biotic community composition and ecosystem structure and processes.
The postdoc will have a leading role in coordinating the network and will lead research and synthesis efforts in quantifying past and ongoing rates of borealization and possibly predicting future rates of borealization.
The successful candidate will build leadership expertise by being part of the management board of a large Nordic cooperation project. The position will provide a unique opportunity to be part of a large, active and multidisciplinary international team, participation in project meetings in different countries over the course of the project and opportunities for research visits with other partners and for student supervision.
