(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral researcher inverse problems and computational imaging
The Vision Lab at the University of Antwerp (http://visielab.uantwerpen.be/ ) has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher to strengthen our tomography research team with, for this position, a particular emphasis on computational imaging and deep learning. Tomography is an image reconstruction technique that leans strongly on large-scale numerical mathematics and computational science. It has a wide range of applications in medicine (CT-scans), industry (nondestructive testing) and science (3D imaging of nanomaterials).
The researcher will contribute to the development of a radically new method for 3D reconstruction of nanomaterial scans. The technique will be dedicated to the analysis of semiconductor samples in close collaboration with imec Belgium (https://www.imec-int.com/en/home) (prof. C. Fleischmann).
Deadline : 15 April 2025

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doctoral candidates: research proposals on the functional morphology of organisms via dynamic X-ray imaging
The research groups Functional Morphology and imec Vision Lab of the Faculty of Science at the University of Antwerp are seeking post-doctoral candidates willing to write research proposals on the functional morphology of organisms via dynamic X-ray imaging.
X-ray imaging is a powerful method for analysing functional morphology due to its capability to visualise internal structures. Recently, dynamic quantification of moving and/or deforming structures using X-ray imaging has also become possible. Workflows such as X-ray Reconstruction of Moving Morphology (XROMM) have significantly gained popularity in the fields of functional morphology and biomechanics of animals. The innovative use of dynamic X-ray imaging offers unique opportunities for researchers to advance beyond the state-of-the-art in addressing open questions on form and function. The University of Antwerp’s core facility, DynXLab, is well-equipped to facilitate this type of research.
External and internal post-doc researchers who are eligible to submit an FWO or MSCA post-doc application are invited to apply. The top-ranked candidate(s) with the best profile (project idea & CV) acquire a preparatory post-doctoral research mandate to further develop and submit a competitive research proposal to FWO (Flemish Science Foundation) or MSCA (Horizon Europe Marie Curie fellowships), with the University of Antwerp as the host institution.
Deadline : 14 April 2025

This was one of the first European business schools to offer formal university degrees. It later opened a Faculty of Literature and Philosophy (including Law) and a Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. It was renamed Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen (UFSIA) in the 1960s when the Belgian government granted it university status. In the early 1970s UFSIA joined into a confederation with “Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerpen” (RUCA) and “Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen” (UIA), public institutions.
