(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Research Fellow in Artistic Research at the Department of Design

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly impacting society, and it is essential to explore various aspects of this technology. While AI offers many opportunities, there are challenges related to how the technology is utilized. AI can be used to promote or generate content that amplifies global disruptions, but it can also introduce new artistic methods and expressions.

Design – particularly visual communication – is especially influenced by AI. In the design field, practitioners should adopt a critical and exploratory approach to the far-reaching implications of artificial intelligence.

We are looking for skilled designers within visual communication who can conduct artistic research related to AI at a high level.

In artistic research at the Department of Design, emphasis is placed on practice that is reflective and process-driven. The candidate will be affiliated with one of the department’s research groups, working alongside colleagues from a broad range of design disciplines.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in computational geoscience

In the development and production of high-temperature geothermal resources, large, induced gradients in pressure and temperature during injection operations result in complex coupled processes. This includes boiling of geothermal fluids and deformation of the fractured rock, coupled dynamics that are currently not well understood. This provides a core motivation as well as challenging test cases for the mathematical and numerical developments in the MaPSI project. MaPSI has as its main objective to provide mathematical models and simulation technology required to assess subsurface process-structure interaction in the context of hydraulic and thermal stimulation in development and production of high-temperature geothermal resources.

The successful candidate will join the MaPSI-project team and contribute to research activities in the project. Relevant tasks include mathematical modelling, development and implementation of numerical methods, and investigation of cases relevant for understanding processes in the field. Software development will expand on the open-source software framework PorePy (github.com/pmgbergen/porepy), which is being developed in the MaPSI project and already has strong capabilities in modelling of compositional multiphase flow and coupled process-structure interaction in fractured thermo-poroelastic media.

Deadline : 21st January 2025
