08 Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of British Columbia, Canada

Dr. Andrei Krassioukov’s laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to perform clinical research related to autonomic dysfunctions (e.g. abnormal cardiovascular control; bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunctions) following spinal cord injury, spinal cord stimulation, and chronic pain in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, scientists, and health care professionals.

We are looking for multiple candidates to expand the existing projects to understand how Lin28 regulates stem cell networks to counteract therapy-induced stress and apply computer-aided drug design to develop Lin28 inhibitors. Candidates with animal handling, lentiviral manipulations, or ChIP-seq backgrounds are welcome. 

The Canadian group in the DarkLight collaboration has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher to join us in a search for new bosons in the mass range from 10 to 20 MeV using the TRIUMF/ARIEL e-linac. The successful applicant will join a small international collaboration and be based at TRIUMF in Vancouver, BC. The brief and intense schedule for the DarkLight experiment means that this position provides a unique opportunity for a young postdoctoral researcher to participate in a particle physics experiment from the design stages right through data taking to a final result during their time at TRIUMF.

A position is open for a postdoctoral fellow with a PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline, and a strong interest in neuroscience, cardiovascular and vascular biology. Interested candidates must be self-motivated and have at least two first-authored papers in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in spinal cord/peripheral nerve stimulation, bladder & bowel dysfunction, experimental animal research, immunocytochemistry, and/or histology is an asset. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to perform experiments to determine the neuronal and molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular and autonomic (i.e., bladder, bowel, sexual, and cardiovascular) dysfunction following spinal cord injury. This involves in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro experiments along with extensive work involving rodent models of spinal cord injury. The fellow will also be expected to write scientific publications, apply for research funding, and present their work at institutional journal clubs and international conferences.

The MDRU-Mineral Deposit Research Unit and BRIMM (Bradshaw Research Institute for Minerals and Mining) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, are looking for two postdoctoral research fellows (who have completed their PhD within the last 5 years at the time of appointment) to work on a newly funded 2-year NSERC Alliance funded postdoctoral research project (with possibility for extension). The project is supported by Ideon Technologies and Imdex Limited. This project seeks to develop a quantitative understanding of the value of ore body knowledge in mineral exploration and mining.

The ideal candidates will have an interest in mineral resources, with a quantitative background in geostatistics, mineral resource estimation, geophysics or related fields. Additional interests in ore body knowledge, including alteration mineralogy, geological engineering, sensing technologies or geophysics would be highly beneficial. Background and experience working for or in collaboration with mineral exploration and/or mining companies would be beneficial, as the successful applicants will collaborate closely with both Ideon Technologies and Imdex Limited, two highly innovative companies that are at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and solutions in the field of mineral exploration and mining.

A postdoctoral position in the area of 3D printing cellulose composite is available immediately in the Sustainable Functional Biomaterials lab at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The objective of this position is to developed 3D printed cellulose structure reinforced by silicate. A suite of technologies including 3D printing, rheology, mechanical testing, silicate chemistry, cellulose chemistry, are expected to be developed as the main job responsibilities
