(01) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Epidemiological / Data Science postdoctoral fellowship on exposome research

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking environmental Epidemiologist / Data Scientist, who can complement and strengthen our team. The mathematical formula for our state of being reads rather simple: genes plus environment equals our health score. We’ve sequenced our genes to identify the genetic component of disease, but the environment remains the biggest unknown part of our health equation. In several projects we are trying to elucidate these unknown factors by combining different datastreams from sensors, wearables, questionnaires, dietary assessments, biological measurements and geospatial data to comprehensively characterize environmental factors (collectively called the exposome) and link these to (intermediate) health outcomes.

(03) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position in Plant Development/Genomics/Molecular Biology (1.0 FTE)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, communicative, and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with experience in plant development and transcriptomics. You will be working on an NWO-VIDI funded project investigating the evolution of exodermis in flowering plants. Exodermis is a barrier cell type protecting roots in fluctuating environments, and the evolutionary path and molecular regulators of exodermis are waiting for discovery. Your own project will focus on investigating exodermis phenotypes, evolution, and gene regulatory networks in legumes. You will be directly supervised by dr. Kajala and will collaborate with a PhD student that will be recruited in the second year of the project and who will work on dynamic (ABA-induced) exodermis across angiosperms.

(04) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher on Social Justice of Water, Energy and Food Governance in South Africa (1,0 fte)

The project studies the consequences of implementing the so-called water-energy-food nexus, or decision-making around synergies and trade-offs between the use and production of water, energy and food, in South Africa. We focus on social justice questions around whether the nexus can benefit all, who makes decisions and at what level. We study the challenges and opportunities of a socially just nexus implementation from the bottom up, focusing in particular on the role of the poorest and women

(05) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position in Biochemistry (1.0 FTE)

The Cellular Protein Chemistry  external link(CPC) section is seeking applications. Post-docs, PhD students, and Technicians in our laboratory work independently, but in teams on projects in the field of molecular cell biology and biochemistry. This project is in collaboration with international academic partners, a pharmaceutical company and a patient organization. You will work on folding and transport of (mutant) CFTR protein in mammalian cells and in cell-free assays. Using structure-inspired biochemical assays you will explore oligonucleotides and nanobodies as candidate therapeutics for cystic fibrosis.

(07) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoc position (2 years) on ‘The Magnetic Signature of Temperature Anomalies in Faults’

The current position aims to investigate the presence of temperature anomalies in natural and experimental faults by measuring the magnetic signature of rock samples. We will extend standing theory to constrain the naturally occurring frictional heat during major earthquakes using bulk samples to low magnitude events. Furthermore, we will assess the heat distribution as function of distance to the fault plane on a micrometer scale using Quantum Diamond Magnetometry techniques. Both approaches will be calibrated using laboratory-derived samples and then applied to outcrop samples obtained from faults in Permian sandstone in collaboration with Prof. Holdsworth of Durham University (UK).
