(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Researcher in Informatics: Algorithmic foundations of DataScience

All employees are expected to contribute to excellence through high-quality research. For this position we are looking for a scientist who will contribute to the success and visibility of CEDAS and the LOPRE project. Current scientific priorities of CEDAS include the research of algorithmic foundations of data science, visual data science, fundamentals of machine learning, data science in bioinformatics, behavioral data science, and statistical foundations. A successful candidate for this position will conduct research within the algorithmic foundations of data science, as well as interacting with other CEDAS scientists. We are looking for an excellent scientist with background and experience in one or more of the following areas of computer science: approximation algorithms, dynamic algorithms, streaming algorithms, parameterized complexity, machine learning algorithms, as well as related fields.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in palaeobotany (pollen analysis)

We are seeking a palaeobotanist, preferably a pollen analyst working within the Holocene Period, but a specialist in macrofossil analysis (archaeobotanist) may also be of interest. The appointed postdoc is expected to be competent with methods like quantitative analyses of pollen-based landscape reconstructions or sedDNA. The postdoc will be part of a paleoenvironmental research group, where main research interests centre around past human impact on vegetation and landscapes. The paleoenvironmental research group consist of palaeobotanists, archaeologists and palaeozoologists/osteologists. The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with three other palaeobotanists/archaeobotanists, externally financed and mainly connected to projects in accordance with The Cultural Heritage Act. The postdoc we seek will take active part in developing the palaeobotanical research at the University Museum, including research based on the collections. The successful applicant will take part in strengthening the interdisciplinary research collaboration at the University Museum, and in developing national and international research networks. It is expected that the postdoc will participate in developing external research grant applications. Duties relating to outreach activities, teaching, and curation of the collections may also be relevant.
