(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Computer Science within WASP
The research is focused on a problem that is at the heart of the current split in AI between data-based learners and model-based reasoners: the problem of learning models from data, and more generally, the problem of learning representations from data over known formal languages with a known structure and semantics. While these representations are to be learned using deep learning methods, the use of domain-independent target languages for learning is aimed at obtaining representations that generalize and can be reused, and which are more transparent and require less data. In the setting of action and planning, language-based representations have been used to represent general dynamics, general control strategies, and general subgoal structures (intrinsic rewards), among other types of structures. (02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Automatic Control with focus on belief-space motion planning
The Division of Automatic Control has a vacant post-doctoral position in the area of numerical methods for motion planning and predictive control under uncertainty for autonomous systems. The research aims at developing improved numerical methods for solving challenging belief-space motion planning problems, where the uncertainty in the problem is explicitly considered. In particular, it will be investigated how to tightly integrate state-of-the-art POMDP methods with state-of-the-art methods from numerical optimal control in a theoretical as well as computationally sound way. Also receding horizon variants of this solution strategy will be investigated. The position is financed by the European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (EOARD) and is a full-time research position.

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post doctor in Communication Systems with Focus on Digital Signal Processing for Transceivers
The Division of Communication Systems has a vacant post-doctoral position in the area of digital signal processing for communication transceivers. The focus is on the development of efficient algorithms required in agile wideband systems with stringent requirements on high data rates, low latency, low computational complexity, and low energy consumption. Of particular interest are algorithms required for mitigating analog channel and hardware imperfections and algorithms for multi-standard carrier aggregation and channelization. The algorithms will be developed and evaluated in software, based on real data obtained through industry collaboration projects.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Thematic Studies Environmental Change with focus on biogas processes and biogas solutions
As a postdoc, you carry out research on developing and evaluating biogas processes with the aim to increase biogas production and develop sustainable biogas solutions. You primarily work within the research area “Digestion Processes” and focus on devising and testing new operational strategies and process concepts to improve resource efficiency, biogas production, waste reduction, digestate quality and/or valorization. The tasks in this position include experimental studies on process and technology development. The research is carried out at Thematic Studies Environmental Change and within the framework of BSRC.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Analytical Sociology
The position is advertised within the research project Observatory of Poverty.
About 900 million people—one-third in Africa—live in extreme poverty. Operating on the assumption that life in impoverished communities is fundamentally so different that it can trap people in cycles of deprivation (‘poverty traps’), major development agencies have deployed a stream of development projects to break these cycles (‘poverty targeting’). However, scholars are currently unable to answer questions such as in what capacity do poverty traps exist; to what extent do these interventions release communities from such traps—as they are held back by a data challenges. There is a lack of geo-temporal poverty data; this project will develop new methods to produce such data. Consequently, the aim of this project is to identify to what extent African communities are trapped in poverty and explain how competing development interventions alter these communities’ prospects to free themselves from deprivation.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in the field of materials science with a particular focus on surface chemistry
Your tasks will be computational studies of chemical reactions on surfaces, contributing towards the understanding the formation mechanisms of atomically precise carbon nanostructures, using methods based on density functional theory (DFT). You will work within a team but will be responsible for your individual research projects. Part of the work will be in direct contact with international collaborators.

Your tasks will consist of developing organic mixed ion-electron conductors for organic electrochemical transistors. (09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Neurobiology
As a Postdoc, you will develop a project on the functional properties and molecular regulation of voltage-gated calcium channel proteins. This will include expression of human channel clones and subunits in Xenopus oocytes, and functional analysis by cut-open oocyte Vaseline gap (COVG) voltage clamp, and voltage clamp fluorometry. This work will be performed under various experimental regimes that recapitulate the regulation of calcium channels at the presynaptic terminal.
