(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in Biomedical Engineering (Imaging of tendon development and mechanobiology)
The Biomechanics group is part of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The interdisciplinary research is focused on understanding the link between mechanics and biology in the musculoskeletal system, including related pathologies and repair of skeletal tissues. Experimental tissue characterisation methods, imaging and computational simulation techniques are applied on direct problems in orthopaedics to develop better methods to understand and improve repair of musculoskeletal tissues.
The group encompasses about 15 scientists (PhD students, post-docs, researchers and teachers) and is located at the BMC-building (biomedical center). The expertise includes computational and experimental mechanics of biological tissues, where a large part of the experimental work takes place at large scale facilities, using imaging, scattering and spectroscopy-based techniques. The group strives for an inclusive environment based on collaboration and trust, where development towards an independent researcher is largely encouraged and supported. The research is connected to the LTH profile area Engineering Health.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in Energy Sciences with a focus on energy system modeling
This position is a part of the project “Hycogen 2 System perspective for efficient hydrogen production and use by sector coupling to district heating”
When converting electricity to hydrogen through electrolysis, 30% of the energy go to heat losses. The EU’s goal of producing 10 million tonnes of hydrogen per year by 2030 means 230 TWh of residual heat, corresponding to four times Sweden’s total district heating energy. It shows the potential and importance of using the heat surplus in future investments. Hycogen 2 shows in how it can be implemented both at national and EU level. Hycogen 2 analyzes and proposes solutions for how hydrogen production, with sector connection to district heating and/or cooling, can be designed and controlled with respect to operating temperatures, cooling system design etc. to maximize overall system energy efficiency and benefit to the electrical system. Integrated hydrogen systems should be designed so the residual heat will be of larger use based on local conditions. The residual heat can thus enable a significant fuel substitution at the same time as the entire energy system becomes more robust.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in Human factors/Ergonomics with a focus on work organisation
The postdoctoral position focuses on the organisational parts of the ergonomics subject, specifically on the work environment for managers. Great emphasis is placed on organisational design and on how the conditions for the work affect health, well-being, motivation and work performance. The research is interdisciplinary with both qualitative parts such as interviews and focus groups, and quantitative parts such as questionnaire studies. The project uses a design approach, which means that the focus is not only on mapping, but also on developing proposals for improvements with regard to work organizational problems and challenges that the project identifies. This means that the project also includes design methodology such as workshops and concept development regarding solutions to work organisational problems.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doctoral fellow in atmospheric science with a focus on greenhouse gases
Over the coming decades changes in ecosystems due to climate change, land-use driven changes, as well as continued direct anthropogenic emissions will all play a role in the extent of global temperature rise. In 2023 the greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring community was set a challenge through the approval by the World Meteorological Organisation’s Global Greenhouse Gas Watch (GGGW) to understand GHG fluxes at unprecedented resolution. This endeavour will require continued improvement of measurements, data processing and interpretation activities – making the most of existing infrastructure and data sources, while also trying to expand to geographical areas with currently limited coverage. We seek to support this area of work through employment of a postdoctoral scientist to bring the diverse measurement sets across different platforms in Sweden to enable the most efficient use of data across our combined monitoring infrastructure.

Lund University is a prestigious university in Sweden and one of northern Europe’s oldest universities. The university is located in the city of Lund in the province of Scania, Sweden. It traces its roots back to 1425, when a Franciscan studium generale was founded in Lund. After Sweden won Scania from Denmark in the 1658 Treaty of Roskilde, the university was officially founded in 1666 on the location of the old studium generale next to Lund Cathedral.
Lund University has nine faculties, with additional campuses in the cities of Malmö and Helsingborg, with 40,000 students in 270 different programmes and 1,300 freestanding courses. The university has some 600 partner universities in nearly 70 countries and it belongs to the League of European Research Universities as well as the global Universitas 21 network. Lund University is consistently ranked among the world’s top 100 universities.
Two major facilities for materials research are in Lund University: MAX IV, a synchrotron radiation laboratory – inaugurated in June 2016, and European Spallation Source (ESS), a new European facility that will provide up to 100 times brighter neutron beams than existing facilities today, to be opened in 2023.
The university centers on the Lundagård park adjacent to the Lund Cathedral, with various departments spread in different locations in town, but mostly concentrated in a belt stretching north from the park connecting to the university hospital area and continuing out to the northeastern periphery of the town, where one finds the large campus of the Faculty of Engineering.
