(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Research Associate in Psychology and Public Health

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary team on an exciting project investigating the causes of mental health and the underlying psychological mechanisms. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to apply cutting‐edge statistical methods for causal inferences to a uniquely rich longitudinal dataset (data collection is complete). The project is funded by a ZonMw grant. You are expected to be the leading author or a co‐author on manuscripts for top‐tier peer‐reviewed journals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary core team and the team members’ collaborators, who are internationally renowned researchers in Europe and the USA. There will be opportunities to disseminate research findings at professional conferences held locally and internationally. You will join the collaborative interdisciplinary (methodology and statistics, psychology, and public health) research team of Drs. Wen Wei Loh, Dongning Ren, and Math Candel from the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience at Maastricht University.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Post-Doctoral Researcher Big Data to Enhance Educational Quality

We are looking for a motivated post-doctoral researcher to assist with starting a new research line on the use of big data sets (e.g. student evaluations of teaching and assessment) to enhance educational quality of higher education. We already collected quantitative and qualitative data on students’ experiences in the context of higher business and economics education over several years. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher who has experience in and is driven to apply advanced analytical methods to investigate what this data can tell us about educational quality and how we can use insights from this data to improve educational quality. When selected for this position, you will work with an established research team on analysing, writing up, and sharing research findings with academic and practitioner audiences through (top-tier) academic publications, seminars, conferences and/or workshops. The specific focus of the project (incl. variables of interest) will be further determined together with the selected candidate.

The position is located within Maastricht University’s School of Business and Economics, and specifically within the Department of Educational Research and Development. The project is set-up by an experienced research group with experience in educational research and educational quality assurance including Prof. Wim Gijselaers, Dr. Inken Gast and Dr. Laurie Delnoij.

Hiertoe wordt een dubbelblind gerandomiseerd multicenter onderzoek gedaan.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doc synthesis and degradation mechanism of fire retardants for polypropylene (project SuFiP-S)

This project is part of the SuFiP-S project where two departments of Maastricht University (Circular Chemical Engineering, CCE and Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials, AMIBM) collaborate with Sabic. The goal of the SuFiP-S project is to develop sustainable and fire-safe plastics (polypropylene) based on fully organic phosphorus-sulfur compounds.

Polypropylene (PP) is a significant plastic in flame retardant (FR) products in electronics and transportation. Single-molecule FRs like phosphorus-sulfur (P-S) FRs are part of the state-of-the-art research for applications in PP due to their promising FR performance at low concentrations. However, P-S FRs are not commercially used because their decomposition mechanisms are unknown during processing and in the use phase, thus leading to poor recyclability. This project proposes a systematic interdisciplinary study on the degradation, processing, and recycling of PP/FR plastics to lay a scientific basis for developing new PP/FR plastics and increasing their recycling quantity and quality.

The task of the post-doc at AMIBM is to synthesize flame retardants and to investigate their degradation mechanism during processing and recycling conditions via analytical techniques. In a first part of the research, the degradation of pure flame retardants will be studied, later the flame retardant blended in a polypropylene matrix will be the focus. The post-doc will work closely together with a PhD student in the group of dr. Ali Gooneie from CCE at UM. The latter are responsible for mechanical recycling studies and modelling work related to the degradation mechanism of the flame retardants. Flame retardants will be upscaled for the testing by the colleagues from CCE. Based on this interaction, the chemical structure of the flame retardant will adapted in order allow better recycling.

The post-doc will be appointed at AMIBM, Maastricht University, which is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. You will work in the Sustainable Polymer Synthesis group of Associate Professor Katrien Bernaerts, which focusses on the synthesis and design of polymer materials with tunable properties and recyclability exploiting the functionality of biobased building blocks. You will operate from the Brightlands-Chemelot Campus in Geleen (Nl), where the labs are located.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Econometrics

The Department of Quantitative Economics (QE) within the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University has leading international reputation both for research and education in econometrics, actuarial sciences, mathematical economics and operations research. We are offering a fixed-term postdoctoral position in econometrics (2 years). We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD in the area of high-dimensional statistics, econometrics and/or robust statistics as well as their applications to economic data. The starting date of the position can be determined by mutual agreement but should not be later than September 2025.

The applicant will contribute to research in econometrics and statistics and is expected to work on research projects with dr. Ines Wilms. The candidate is also expected to contribute to teaching-related tasks at the QE Department which consists of both courses for bachelor and master programs in Economics and Business, and courses for the Bachelor and Master programs in Econometrics and Operations Research. The postdoctoral researcher will have a teaching duty of around 25%.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc/onderzoeker NWO-project naar samenwerking tussen publieke organisaties

De vakgroep Organisatie, Strategie en Ondernemerschap (OSE) van de School of Business and Economics (SBE) en het Instituut voor Transnationale en Euregionale Grensoverschrijdende Samenwerking en Mobiliteit (ITEM) van de Universiteit Maastricht zijn op zoek naar twee postdocs en/of onderzoekers (0,5 – 1fte).

Ben je geïnteresseerd te onderzoeken hoe politiediensten, openbare ministeries en gemeenten in de Belgisch/Nederlands/Duitse grensregio samenwerken bij het oplossen van grensoverschrijdende criminaliteit? Wil je deelnemen aan een multidisciplinair, door NWO gefinancierd onderzoeksproject naar samenwerking tussen verschillende organisaties? Ben je enthousiast over fundamenteel én sociaal relevant onderzoek? Dan is dit een uitgelezen kans.

Grensoverschrijdende criminaliteit is een hardnekkig en complex probleem met ernstige gevolgen voor maatschappelijke veiligheid. Een belangrijke vraag is hoe de samenwerking op dit gebied tussen verschillende overheidsorganisaties zoals politie, openbaar ministerie en gemeenten kan worden geoptimaliseerd. Als postdoc en/of onderzoeker ga je een centrale rol spelen in dit project, door het voortouw te nemen in de data-analyse (survey en interviews), het uitvoeren van vervolgonderzoek (focus groups), het in kaart brengen van de belangrijkste onderzoeksuitkomsten en deze vertalen naar de praktijk en de wetenschap en het onderhouden van de contacten met de betrokken organisaties. Onderzoek naar samenwerking tussen publieke organisaties over de grenzen heen staat nog in de kinderschoenen; er is dus alle ruimte een unieke bijdrage te leveren.

(10) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Health Technology Assessment

Als Postdoc ben je betrokken bij diverse onderzoeksprojecten en/of daaraan gerelateerde subsidieaanvragen. Het merendeel van deze projecten is gericht op gezondheid economisch onderzoek, zoals het verrichten van economische evaluaties (bijv. kosteneffectiviteitsanalyses, kosten van ziekten studies), kwaliteit van leven studies of advisering of uitvoering van maatschappelijke kosten-baten analyses, mini-HTA’s, budget impact analyses of maatschappelijke business cases. In veel van deze projecten staat het gebruik van hulpmiddelen in de zorg centraal. Het betreft onder andere het project “Robot Tessa’’ waarbij in samenwerking met Academy het Dorp de doelmatigheid van deze interventie wordt onderzocht. Een ander project waarbij je betrokken zult worden is het project ‘’EET-ZE’’, waarbij in samenwerking van met de Hogeschool Zuyd de kosteneffectiviteit van een eetrobot wordt onderzocht. Je maakt deel uit van een enthousiast en gedreven team en werkt samen met medewerkers van Maastricht Health Economics en Health Technology Assessment (MaastrichtHETA), een samenwerkingsverband waarin onderzoek en onderwijs op het terrein van gezondheidseconomie en HTA centraal staat.
