(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doctoral Fellow – Du and Lu Labs
The Du Lab and the Lü Lab (dululabs.com) are interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of how the body perceives sensory information (e.g. taste, smell, vision, and temperature), transmits signals to the brain, and generates responses. We focus on ion channels involved in the basic senses. We employ a range of structural and biophysical approaches, including single-particle cryo-EM, patch-clamp electrophysiology, and other biochemical methods. The cryo-EM facility at Van Andel Institute hosts a Titan Krios equipped with a K3 camera, and a Talos Arctica equipped with a K2 camera.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Environmental Impacts on Health and Epigenetics
Van Andel Institute’s (VAI) Laboratory of Nick Burton, Ph.D. currently has a position available for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join his lab and has an interest in researching either:
- phenotypic plasticity and intergenerational responses to stress or
- chromatin remodeling and its association with neurodevelopmental syndromes.
These projects are both long-standing interests of the Burton lab with exciting preliminary data. The Burton lab predominantly uses the nematode C. elegans to model these aspects of biology, but both of these projects will have the opportunity to develop new mouse models in collaboration with the transgenics core at VAI.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Fellow – Genomic Sciences and Neurodegeneration
We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative post-doctoral fellow to work on a project being developed by the laboratories of Drs. Rita Guerreiro and José Brás, in the Center for Neurodegenerative Science at the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The position is available for an ambitious scientist to use or establish genome-wide genomic analyses methods to identify novel genes and variants associated with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The laboratories employ a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to the study of familial and sporadic neurodegenerative diseases and has large collections of samples and genomic data for different neurological diseases. The successful candidate will use these data to identify causative mutations and variants associated with disease risk that may be new targets for the development of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease and associated disorders.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Immunology, Epigenetics and Cellular Metabolism
The laboratory of Dr. Connie Krawczyk at the Van Andel Institute (VAI) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow. The Krawczyk lab aims to understand the mechanisms that regulate immune cell function, with an emphasis on epigenetics and cellular metabolism. This postdoctoral position is available immediately for a motivated PhD who has graduated within the past 3 years and meets the qualifications and description outlined below. The fellow is expected to use and establish cellular and animal models to investigate epigenetic modifiers and/or metabolic pathways and their impact on hematopoiesis, immune cell phenotype and function. The candidate will investigate the consequences of disrupting these pathways for immune homeostasis, and for protective and pathological inflammation. The candidate will work with Dr. Krawczyk and her research team to identify areas of interest and expertise that will facilitate the highest level of contribution to reach overall project objectives.
