PhD position summary/title: Doctoral student in Physics with a focus on modelling volcanic climate forcing
The PhD position is part of a research project financed by the Swedish Research Council Formas. The overall aim is to improve our knowledge on the climate impact of volcanic eruptions reaching the stratosphere (above ~10 km). Stratospheric aerosol particles scatter and absorb solar radiation and thereby cool the Earth. Projection of the future climate is complicated by natural climate variability.

This PhD project is embedded in a large Formas project that aims to assess the biotic and abiotic climate effects (“costs”) of rotation forestry. Lund University is a prestigious university in Sweden and one of northern Europe’s oldest universities. The university is located in the city of Lund in the province of Scania, Sweden. It traces its roots back to 1425, when a Franciscan studium generale was founded in Lund. After Sweden won Scania from Denmark in the 1658 Treaty of Roskilde, the university was officially founded in 1666 on the location of the old studium generale next to Lund Cathedral.
