(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate in the Institute of Environment

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to support a three-year effort to advance collaborative research and conservation of transboundary social-ecological freshwater systems in the Western Amazon (Brazil, Peru and Colombia). The Research Associate will work with an interdisciplinary team that includes Drs. Elizabeth Anderson, Simone Athayde, Clinton Jenkins, and Paulo Olivas at Florida International University. They will support efforts on four integrated project themes concerning linked human, freshwater and forest systems in the Western Amazon: (1) habitat change, (2) governance, (3) biocultural mapping, and (4) participatory visioning. The project will use a co-production approach and involve extensive engagement with partner organizations and stakeholders that are based and/or conduct work in the Amazon Basin.

The Center for Children and Families at Florida International University (FIU) is recruiting a full-time, Post-doctoral Research Associate in the ADHD Research Group for two-year appointments with the possibility of extending to three years (or longer as a research assistant professor). The positions will be housed in the Center for Children and Families (CCF) at FIU (http://ccc.fiu.edu) at the Western New York Location in Buffalo, NY (http://ccf.fiu.edu/wny).  The CCF is one of five University-Designated Preeminent Programs and has 38 faculty associates¿most of whom are faculty in the FIU Psychology Department¿and more than 100 trainees in masters, doctoral, and professional programs who study child and adolescent mental health. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate- Research Center in Minority Institutions HIV COVID Study

The Community-Based Research Institute (CBRI) at Florida International University has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to join our growing team. As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will primarily work on a new study funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIHMD) as part of FIU’s Research Center in Minority Institutions (FIU-RCMI). The Postdoctoral Associate will assist with analyzing and interpreting data from the R01-equivalent RCMI study “Addressing community-level influences of HIV and COVID-19 disparities among people with HIV.” The study will assess the contribution of community factors on HIV and COVID-19 disparities among people with HIV in Florida. The study will use HIV and COVID-19 statewide surveillance longitudinal data to model potential increases in disparities over time among minority populations. The position has funding for a minimum of 4 years (2023-2027) with annual renewal contingent upon performance. The selected candidate will prepare research publications and presentations as the first author and contribute to other publications and presentations as a co-author. They will also write annual reports and meet project deadlines with the flexibility to develop/design important components of our study and will have flexibility in leading authorship on multiple manuscripts. You will be joining a close-knit, vibrant team of social epidemiologists committed to addressing health disparities. (07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate – Gut Microbiome, Sleep and Cognition Study

This is a one-year post-doctoral fellowship, with the possibility of a second year contingent on funding and satisfactory productivity. Postdoctoral fellows will further their research and training agendas through formal mentorship and coursework, seminars, conferences, and other career development activities. Each fellow will have a primary mentor assisted by other mentors in a team approach. They will work with established investigators on research projects and be expected to prepare and submit manuscripts for publication, present at local and national conferences, and develop and submit at least one grant proposal by the end of the fellowship term. Fellows will be trained in community-based participatory research methods and population health science. The primary responsibilities will be related to the NIMHD-funded “Microbiome profiles, sleep, and cognition among mid-life Latinx adults” study. This five-year R01-equivalent study is part of the FIU-RCMI – Research Center in Minority Institutions. The post-doctoral fellow will engage with participants and mentees using evidence-based data collection methods and produce scientific evidence with the ultimate goal of increasing health equity related to sleep and cognition, including their behavioral risk factors.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Temporary Postdoctoral Associate in the Infant Development Lab

The Infant Development Lab (PI: Lorraine Bahrick; infantlab.fiu.edu) in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University invites applications for a 2-3 year NIH-funded postdoc in infant/child perceptual/cognitive/social development to start as soon as possible or by January 2023. We seek an applicant with strong technical, methodological, and statistical skills with an interest in early development. The post-doc will work with the P.I., Dr. Lorraine Bahrick, and her lab team, to coordinate and participate in 2 NIH-funded research projects. One is a multisite project assessing individual differences in attention and intersensory processing and relations with social and language outcomes. Findings are designed to serve as a basis for identifying typical developmental trajectories with implications for identifying atypical trajectories. The project will result in a large aggregate database generated by and shared across 13 research labs via Databrary. The other is a longitudinal study assessing attention and intersensory processing as predictors of language, social, and school readiness outcomes across 3 months through 6 years of age. Theoretical emphasis is on an ecological/developmental systems perspective. The post-doc will have ample opportunity for exploring both databases, participating in and generating collaborative research projects, developing an independent research program, and receiving training in manuscript writing and grantsmanship.
