PhD position summary/title: PhD positions in Innovation Management
The Ex-Man project seeks to understand the exnovation process in manufacturing firms. Exnovation is the process of how old technologies, artefacts, or practices in an organization get removed to make space for the introduction of new technologies and innovations. The project will provide novel insights on how to manage and strategically conduct exnovation and to understand the underlying mechanisms, barriers, and facilitators of phasing out old innovations and its influence on firm performance and innovativeness. The project will collect and utilize qualitative case studies and quantitative survey data from the manufacturing sector in Denmark, Germany, and Slovenia. Theoretically, the project draws on innovation management, economics of innovation, technology management, organizational learning, and strategy.

PhD position summary/title: Declaration of interest regarding PhD project: Men on the edge
This PhD is embedded within a project funded by TRYGfonden, which aims to explore and understand the specific characteristics of men living on the edge of society. The project seeks to generate new insights into the underlying mechanisms and interactions driving the profound inequalities in their physical and mental health. Additionally, it aims to develop the necessary knowledge to create relevant interventions to prevent marginalization, reduce inequalities, and improve health and well-being for this group.
To achieve this, we will investigate:
- What characterizes this group of men,
- The challenges they face in their social encounters and relationships, and
- The initiatives that may be effective in promoting resilience and health among these men.

PhD position summary/title: Ph D Position in Translational Environmental Medicine
A full time 3 year PhD position at the Research Unit Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Environmental Medicine (CPPEM), University of Southern Denmark, is vacant from April 1st 2025.
We are looking for a PhD for a project funded by an ERC advanced grant. The purpose of this project is to study the impact of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on cholesterol metabolism using primary human hepatocytes (PHH) cultured in 3 dimensional (3D) spheres. We will study the impact of PFAS on gene expression using unbiased RNA sequencing and the impact on cholesterol metabolism by assessing activity of cholesterol-metabolising enzymes. Furthermore, we will study the impact of PFAS on co-cultures of hepatocytes and Kupffer cells.

PhD position summary/title: PhD Position in Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense
Posttranslational modifications on nucleosomal core and linker histone proteins are central to transcriptional regulation in eukaryotes and are thus of fundamental importance to complex life. In contrast to advanced biomolecular understanding of core histones, the basic molecular knowledge on linker histones is currently limited. As a PhD student, you will work on the Novo Nordisk Foundation NERD-funded project aimed at developing innovativechemical tools that will enable precise elucidation of roles of linker histones and their posttranslational modifications in the chromatin structure and function. You will apply modern bioorganic chemistry and chemical biology approaches, ranging from peptide and protein synthesis to enzyme assays and protein binding studies, in investigations of biologically important linker histones.

PhD position summary/title: PhD scholarships within the Interreg project FUSION
The thesis will be an integral part of the FUSION project. Climate change is a phenomenon that threatens the Danish – German Interreg region on both sides of the border, requiring well aligned actions across nation states as it can only be mitigated through collaborative collective efforts and behavioral changes of all citizens. At the same time, we observe that the majority of high school students in the Danish-German border region suffers from climate anxiety and a lack of positive outlook that makes them feel powerless. FUSION aims to break the paralysis in which these students are trapped, educate them in the collective imagination of positive climate futures, and empower them to develop and implement joint climate change initiatives across borders in the program region. It is a collaborative project involving two university and seven school partners from Denmark and Germany.
