We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work on the project “Cost of Climate Change in Switzerland with and without successful climate change mitigation”. The project started in February 2023 and is part of the NCCS Impacts Programme. The postdoctoral researcher will work together with the project team at the Department of Geography, University of Zurich and will have a key role in assessing impacts of climate change for multiple sectors and regions and the effects of adaptation. The focus will be on further developing existing tools for impacts and adaptation modelling. The candidate will work closely with other members of the consortium as well as the project sponsor the National Center for Climate Services (NCCS) and will take on project management responsibilities as they might arise.
The research focus of the chair is on social-cognitive development in infancy and childhood. The project focuses on multilingual language development in early childhood. Previous research shows that monolingual and multilingual children differ in the repertoire and flexibility of their communicative behavior. In the planned research project, the characteristics of these differences in early childhood (0 – 6 years) as well as the underlying mechanisms will be investigated in more detail. For this purpose, behavioral methods but also eye tracking or electroencephalography (EEG) can be applied.

The massive rise in obesity rates is mainly due to changes in lifestyle, in particular increased caloric intake. Promising emerging therapies rely on the combination of gut hormones and their agonists. To pursue important questions regarding pharmacotherapy using GLP-1 and amylin agonists, we offer an attractive position in a collaborative project with another university in Europe and a US based university. The experimental work of this project will combine in vivo approaches with analyses at the cellular and subcellular level to resolve the mechanisms mediating the actions of GLP-1 and amylin agonists. This project will use a large array of behavioral and state-of-the-art technology such as single cell sequencing, fiber photometry, chemogenetics and brain imaging ex vivo (including brain clearing iDisco) and in vivo imaging studies in animal models.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in experimental evolutionary biology
A postdoctoral fellowship in evolutionary biology is available in the laboratory of Andreas Wagner at the University of Zurich. Lab members are a group with very diverse backgrounds and research projects, unified by their interests in evolution and life’s fundamental organizational principles. Recent experimental work in the lab ranges from the directed evolution of proteins to the experimental evolution of microbes (e.g., Zheng et al., Science 2020; Toll-Riera et al, Science Advances 2022). Ongoing projects characterize the adaptive landscapes of biomolecules such as enzymes and transcriptional regulators.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: PostDoc in Gene Therapy and Epigenetics
The Laboratory for Retinal Gene Therapy is part of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital Zurich and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich. One goal of our research is the preclinical development of new gene therapies for the treatment of hereditary (retinal) diseases in cell culture and in animal models. It is also planned to transfer gene therapy approaches from preclinical research into clinical trials. For this purpose, we are embedded in a dense network of academic and industrial collaborations, which we intend to further expand. Another goal is to explore a completely new area of science that combines gene therapies and their effects on epigenetics.
