This advertisement is for one to two postdoc positions on using machine learning and causal inference to evaluate the impact of local development programs in Africa. The candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team towards the goals of Observatory of Poverty project which is situated at the AI and Global Development Lab (you will find more information about the Lab at (global-lab.ai) and The Institute for Analytical Sociology (IAS).

This position is part of the project “Social Complexity and Fairness in Synthetic Medical Data”, which is funded by the research program WASP-HS. The postdoc project will engage a critical perspective on synthetic data, with a theoretical base in feminist technoscience studies, critical studies of AI, data, design, algorithms, and data processing. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with The Bodies Hub at Tema Genus and The Digital STS Hub at Chalmers University. 

This position is part of the “Operationalizing Ethics for AI: Implementation, translation and accountability challenges” project which is funded by the research program The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program – Humanities and Society (WASP-HS https://wasp-hs.org/. This postdoc project will engage an intersectional perspective on synthetic data, differential privacy and algorithm development with a theoretical base in feminist technoscience studies, critical studies of AI, data, design, and data processing. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with The Bodies Hub at Tema Genus.  

We invite applications for a position as postdoctoral researcher to the project “Trustworthy array signal processing”, based at the Division of Communication Systems at ISY at LiU. The project will develop signal processing and machine learning algorithms for sensor arrays that are resilient to adversarial attacks and can operate reliably in a congested radio spectrum. Applications are found, among others, in radar, communications, and remote sensing systems. The project is a cooperation between LiU and Aalto University in Finland, funded by WASP. 

We invite applications for a position as postdoctoral researcher to the European H2020-SNS project “A Dual-frequency Distributed MIMO Approach for Future 6G Applications (6G-Tandem)”, based at the Division of Communication Systems at ISY at LiU. The project will develop new technology for the physical and multiple-access layers in 6G, especially for systems that make combined use of Terahertz and sub-10 GHz frequency bands.

Several research projects within the field of health behavior and digital interventions are currently in progress at our department. Digital interventions which are targeted directly to individuals looking for help to, for instance, reduce their drinking, are being developed and evaluated. Your work assignments will include running new research projects, analyzing data from current projects, and applying for grant funding for future projects. Depending on your experience and expertise, specific assignments will include development and personalization of digital interventions, statistical modelling, and analysis of data (for instance survey and registry data), conducting qualitative studies among those looking for help, and conducting systematic reviews.

Within the position as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of engineering materials, research (80%) and a minor part of teaching (20%) are included. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow who can work in several of our ongoing research projects within the field of additive manufacturing. Examples of ongoing research include properties and microstructure of additively manufactured metals, as well as material and process development for additive manufacturing. The position is partly connected to CAM2: Centre for additive manufacturing – Metal, which means a close collaboration with both industry partners and researchers at other universities. The position will include both laboratory and theoretical parts. Examples of possible tasks are microstructure investigations, characterization of mechanical properties, and material- and process-development for additive manufacturing by powder bed fusion.

The primary focus of these postdoc positions is research in machine learning with applications to pulp and paper industry. The aim is to develop novel machine learning and other data driven AI methods for scaling up the process that facilitates groundbreaking discoveries in pulp and paper industry, beyond what humans can do, and for providing guidance for further developing the underlying theoretical understanding of important processes such as delignification.

In the Division of Computer Engineering we perform research about efficient processing architectures for, among others, coherent optical communication. With the very high data rates in fiber optical communication systems, the available oversampling is a limiting factor. One primary objective of this post-doc position is to work on efficient solutions for fractional oversampling receivers for coherent optical communication. Traditionally, the adaptive equalizers operates at an integer multiple of the symbol rate. We envision that this can be done at a fractional multiple instead, avoiding both the higher sample rates and sample rate conversions involved with the integer multiple scheme. However, this require new algorithms, which also must be efficiently implementable.

In this position, you will use statistical and machine learning approaches to develop methods for improving modelling and refinement of heterogeneous regions of macromolecular atomic models derived from multi-dataset crystallography experiments. You will use these approaches to generate highly detailed models that enable quantitative structural studies of multi-state systems, such as protein-ligand complexes obtained from fragment-screening experiments. You will engage with national & international collaborators to apply these methods to time-resolved and multi-temperature experimental data sets.
