This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated post doc to work on novel iontronic drug delivery systems to develop the next generation of cancer therapies. The position is within the Laboratory of Organic Electronics at the Linköping University and is part of the European EIC Pathfinder project “bioSWITCH”. bioSWITCH aims to deliver the right dose at the right place at the right time, unlocking the “5th dimension” in medicine. You will be part of an environment with several recently initiated research projects on themes related to cultural perspectives on preparedness, war, and security, as well as media and everyday perceptions of threats and security. The environment includes modern history research that is part of a large multidisciplinary research program on apocalyptic imaginaries, funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond. In addition, there is a project on warning sounds and citizen information which uses historical, media studies, and ethnographic approaches, funded by Vetenskapsrådet. We would like to see that the research you conduct is in an exciting way related to or expands on one of these themes and that you strengthen and enrich the environment and existing research with your own line of research. You will work in a team with Professor Marie Cronqvist and her research group. Describe your intended research in a research plan that you attach to the application. The research plan shall include purpose and research questions, a literature review, and a description of theory, method, and sources. It should not exceed five pages including references.

We are looking for someone with a master’s degree in a field relevant to the position. You should also be interested in pursuing a PhD in the subject in the future.

The following education, experience and expertise are required:

• Theoretical background on voltage-gated ion channel biophysics
• Practical experience with cut-open oocyte Vaseline gap technique
• Practical experience with voltage-clamp fluorometry
• Practical experience with experiments on “silent” potassium-channel subunits
• Experience with the R programming language

The position requires very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

Your assignment is to maintain, develop, and operate our Brillouin light scattering (BLS) setup to measure thin films’ elastic and piezoelectric properties. You are expected to do BLS data analysis and further develop the BLS setup. You will be working in a team where some people are growing thin films and others are developing software for analysis.

You will be part of the competence center FunMat-II. FunMat-II is a Competence Centre in materials science and surface engineering at Linköping University with partners at Uppsala University, the research institute RISE, and numerous Swedish and international industry partners.

You will conduct application-inspired fundamental research on materials synthesis with physical vapor deposition (PVD) and materials behavior. The work is primarily experimental but in close collaboration with theoreticians. You will be part of a larger research team, which is doing collaborative research. Your team members are located at Linköping University and at industrial companies that are partners of the center. You will be part of one or several research projects, which a senior researcher and a steering group head.

You will participate in ongoing research projects where tasks are focused on laboratory work. You will collaborate with the research leader while she will set up in vivo and in vitro models. You will perform immunohistochemistry, stereology, cell/slice culture, preparation of DNA/RNA and protein samples from cells, PCR and WB analyses.

You will perform experimental studies of the effect of compounds on voltage-gated potassium ion channels, with the aim of providing a deeper understanding of the anticipated pharmacological effects. You will primarily work with molecular biology techniques and electrophysiological techniques in cell models. More specifically, you will express ion channel proteins in oocytes from Xenopus laevis, followed by the electrophysiological technique two-electrode voltage clamp to study how ion channels respond to endogenous and synthetic compounds. You will be studying wild type human ion channels and ion channels carrying disease-associated mutations. Your tasks will also include literature studies with focus on newly published research studies of relevance for the project and participation in research group activities such as project meetings and journal clubs.

Your tasks will consist of investigating the electrical and optical characteristics of photocatalytically doped organic semiconductors (Fabiano et al., Nature 2024). You will explore different photocatalysts and organic semiconductors and implement the doped polymers in thermoelectric and memory devices.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

The position includes experimental work on the interaction between free radicals (ROS and RNI) produced by activated host cells and the intracellular effect of new antibiotics against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Methods included are measurement of ROS and RNI via -omics methods, flow cytometry including single-cell analysis and experiments in human macrophages and in a lung tissue model. Genetic and epigenetic effects on M. tuberculosis are also a part of the project which includes bioinformatic analysis. The position will also include design and analysis of experimental data and writing of reports for publication in scientific journals.

In this postdoc project, a large-scale infrastructure (LSI) based methodology will be developed and utilized for in situ studies of microstructure and stress evolutions in workpiece surface during machining. Complementing these investigations, conventional laboratory experiments will be conducted to provide comprehensive characterization of the machined surfaces. The general aim is to enhance our understanding of the mechanisms that govern surface metallurgical and mechanical alternations resulting from machining processes, particularly in the context of machining difficult-to-cut alloys.

The research focuses on federated and decentralized communication-efficient machine learning over networks, with applications in wireless networks and 6G.
