Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar
The primary responsibility of the postdoctoral research associate is 1) to develop numerical models to simulate fiber extrusion process and 2) to develop numerical models and experimental setups to study the interactions between droplets and fibrous materials. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for preparing manuscripts for journal publications, preparing progress reports for the sponsor, and for helping PhD students in Tafreshi’s lab.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar – DEPP
The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will use CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to assess the importance of selected genes in oviposition behavior, larval diet preference and olfaction preference in the blow flies Lucilia cuprina and Cochliomyia macellaria. Blow flies are an ideal system for studying the evolution of the parasitic habit. We have developed efficient protocols for gene editing in these species and have assembled and annotated whole genome sequences.The Postdoc will meet frequently with the supervisor to discuss best practices in grant writing, manuscript preparation, and mentoring.

The Department of Horticultural Science, North Carolina State University, Raleigh is seeking an exceptional candidate for the postdoctoral research associate position to work in the fresh-market tomato breeding program in North Carolina. This project is funded by the USDA–NIFA and aims to leverage modern genetics, genomics, and bioinformatic tools to improve non-race Verticillium wilt resistance in fresh-market tomatoes and identify novel verticillium wilt resistant genes. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will focus mainly on gene discovery, mapping of genes/QTLs associated with the non-race Verticillium wilt resistance in tomatoes. The incumbent would also have the opportunity to pursue innovative scientific ideas, lead/co-lead research proposals, interact with graduate students, collaborate with other faculty members in multiple departments, present research findings at professional meetings, publish in refereed journals, and publish extension products.

The Kleiner Lab studies the physiology and functional interactions in host-microbe systems. We develop cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based approaches to identify and quantify proteins and peptides in these systems. The Kleiner Lab has access to state of the art LC-MS/MS instrumentation including a RSLCnano and a Thermo Eclipse tribrid mass spectrometer. The scholar can also expect the opportunity to gain experience in other approaches related to intestinal microbiota and environmental microbiomes research, as well as professional development opportunities including grant writing and leadership workshops organized by the NCSU Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (https://grad.ncsu.edu/professional-development/opa/). This position is contingent on available funding; funding is currently anticipated for three (3) years.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post Doctoral Research Scholar
This position involves contributing to two multi-site collaborative longitudinal studies of STEM outcomes for adolescents. One study involves longitudinal evaluation of outcomes of youth educator programs in informal science learning sites (museums, zoos and aquariums) funded by the National Science Foundation and the Wellcome Trust. This project has 5 years of data already, with data collection concluding this year. Measures assess outcomes for youth educators as well as the visitors with whom they interact. The second study which is in its 2nd year, involves identifying factors that foster inclusive STEM formal classroom environments for high school students. This project involves cross-sectional and longitudinal survey data collection as well as qualitative interviews. This project will also involve intervention development in partnership with high school teachers and testing.
