In this position you will lead research projects investigating the performance of timber connections in Australian wood products. This research will require a deep understanding of timber connection fundamentals, including performance of screws, dowels, other dowel-type fasteners, and other types of timber fixings. You will work in close collaboration with researchers in the Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub to Advance Timber for Australia’s Future Built Environment – IH220100016 (ARC Advance Timber Hub), and The University of Queensland Centre for Future Timber Structures. The successful candidate is expected to publish research outcomes in reputable journals, prepare research reports and carry out occasional administrative support duties. (06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Immunology
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to drive a new vaccine development program. Reporting to Professor Gabrielle Belz, the successful applicant will take a leadership role in research projects within the Belz research group at the Frazer Institute, Translational Research Institute.
Key projects will explore how the epithelium lining the gut and lungs works to sense and trigger immune cells to drive effector and repair functions. Characterisation experiments will include ELISA, PCR, multicolour flow cytometry, imaging, cutting edge molecular biology (sequencing and epigenetics) and bioinformatics.
As a research focused academic at Level A, you will be supported and guided by more senior academic research staff with the expectation of an increasing degree of autonomy over time. At this level, you will also efficiently manage service and engagement roles and activities.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow – UQ, Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology
In this position you will perform laboratory studies to investigate the simultaneous removal of dissolved methane and nitrogen from the anaerobically treated effluent by a novel dual-membrane biofilm process and to clarify the functional microbial communities and stratification in anoxic and oxic biofilms and reveal the microbial metabolic pathway of methane/nitrogen conversion. In addition, the technology will be demonstrated at a large-scale reactor with real anaerobic treatment effluent under field conditions.

(08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Microbial Natural Products
This is an exciting opportunity to join and work closely with a multidisciplinary team (Professors Vollmer and Capon, and Dr Khalil) to explore the natural products chemistry of Australian soil microbes, to detect, identify and evaluate new classes of antibiotic that selectively inhibit bacterial cell wall biosynthesis. This will be achieved by applying a bioassay guided approach to prioritize microbial extracts that exhibit the desired antibiotic properties, followed by cultivation and chemical profiling to optimize production and dereplicate, ahead of scaling up cultivation, fractionating, isolating and identifying promising new classes of antibiotic.
