We are looking for a talented analyst/bioinformatician to help embed Bioinformatics into the UK Food Standards Agency’s risk analysis process.

Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and bioinformatics have advanced rapidly. This has in turn allowed improvements in the identification and traceability of foodborne pathogens, allowing analysis at a high level of detail. The integration of WGS data into various areas of risk assessment using bioinformatics, with a particular focus on how genotype translates to risk, is an area that is largely unexplored.

(12) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Applications are invited for a short-term (6 months) post-doctoral research position within the group of musculoskeletal research team led by Dr Giovanna Nalesso at the University of Surrey. The post is funded by a MRC project grant aimed to investigate the role of microRNAs and FZD receptors in the modulation of the Wnt signalling in the articular cartilage and osteoarthritis. A key goal is to determine which microRNAs and specific receptor isoforms are responsible for modulating the activation of different branches of the Wnt signalling in physiology and disease. The final goal is to discover novel therapeutic targets to halt disease progression in osteoarthritis and promote pro-regenerative processes.

The university received its royal charter in 1966, along with a number of other institutions following recommendations in the Robbins Report. The institution was previously known as Battersea College of Technology and was located in Battersea Park, London.
