Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Fellow – Pohl Lab, Chemistry

The Pohl Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University is taking applications for postdoctoral research positions. The position offers an opportunity to develop and apply cutting- edge synthesis techniques to address imminent challenges in the design and synthesis of bioactive glycans and glycopeptides. Motivated applicants with PhD training in any area of synthetic chemistry with some experience working with carbohydrates will be considered. Some experience with the Python programming language or lab automation is strongly preferred.

The Pohl Lab is a dynamic multidisciplinary laboratory environment. Applicants will emerge with a skill set that is equally relevant to academia and industry. Trainees will receive regular guidance to ensure progress is made toward their career goals, regardless of whether trainees are pursuant of traditional or alternative careers. Trainees are also afforded the scheduling flexibility needed to maintain an appropriate work- life balance.

The successful applicant will play an integral role in our interdisciplinary lab. The applicant will be expected to design and execute independent research involving multistep synthetic routes in automated flow and batch systems. The applicant will also be expected to take a leadership role in the lab, demonstrate good communication skills, and work productively as a team member.

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Mosquito-Borne Disease

Dr. Wilke is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Indiana University School of Public Health – Bloomington (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=MCPgJ1kAAAAJ&hl=en). His lab conducts cutting-edge research to advance our understanding of how mosquito vector species adapt to urban environments and how these adaptations influence their ecology, behavior, and the health threat they pose to human populations. The research conducted in the lab aims to develop a quantitative framework for understanding the key determinants of vector mosquito proliferation, as well as promoting capacity building, outbreak preparedness, and response.

Located on the flagship campus of the Indiana University System, IU School of Public Health‐Bloomington has over 200 faculty in five departments. (03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Appointee (Cybersecurity Research)

The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics is a network of university-based cybersecurity clinics and allies working to advance cybersecurity education for public good. The Consortium serves as a forum for faculty, students, trainers, and advocates to network and share knowledge, expand the reach of cybersecurity clinics, and lower the barriers for other institutions of higher education to successfully establish their own clinics. Our vision is to launch a university, college, or community-college based clinic in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia by 2030.

The Ostrom Workshop, in collaboration with the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics and CACR, is currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., S.J.D., or other terminal doctoral degree, in a relevant social science, technical, or interdisciplinary field such as Information Science, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Human-Computer Interaction, Business, Law, Urban Studies or Psychology. This position is intended to provide mentored research training and experience for a post doctoral fellow whose interests are aligned with the growing field of public interest technology and more broadly critical infrastructure protection. The post doc fellow will work under the mentorship of core faculty and staff at the Ostrom Workshop and CACR, including Professor Scott Shackelford, and will have access to data and opportunities to visit and conduct research with faculty at other member institutions of the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics. This postdoctoral appointment will be for two years assuming satisfactory performance and funding availability. Start date is expected to be January 2025 but is negotiable.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow

The successful candidate will work closely with PI Dr. Rafael Almeida and an interdisciplinary team of collaborators, focusing on regional and global-scale analyses of benefits and impacts of renewable energy projects on land use and the climate. They will also explore how integrating solar power with other uses (e.g., aquavoltaics and agrivoltaics) can mitigate negative environmental externalities from expanding renewable energy, advancing practical solutions in the field. Beyond this primary focus, the postdoctoral associate will be encouraged to pursue novel research topics and will receive substantial support for professional development.

In addition to leading high-impact research, the postdoctoral associate will play a key role in ongoing lab projects, actively mentor both graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to the development of research proposals and collaborative projects.

This is an in-person position based at Indiana University’s main campus in Bloomington, located 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis. The initial appointment is for 12 months beginning as early as January 1, 2025, with the possibility of extension for an additional year contingent on performance. The starting date is negotiable.

The Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society (CRRES) at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for a CRRES Postdoctoral Fellowship. (08) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicine – Hematology/Oncology

The postdoctoral fellows will be working independently with the goal to rapidly develop their own career goals. The primary research focus will be defined together with Dr. Y. Alan Wang in consultation of postdoctoral fellows’ prior research experience and motivation in area of interest. Both cell culture work and animal studies will be conducted using many different types of models, including 2D, 3D culture systems, organoids, PDXGEMM and rapid ES-derived GEMM, among others. In addition, it is expected that the postdoctoral fellows will gain expert level skills for various techniques required to address scientific questions, including spatial transcriptomics, CyTOF, imaging-CyTOF, scSeq, other omics and downstream bioinformatic analysis in consultation with in house computational scientists. As the goal of our research projects are translational, we expect that postdoctoral fellows will actively participate in collaborations with outstanding clinicians to potentially move the bench discoveries to the clinics as exemplified by several ongoing clinical trials in prostate cancer and colon cancer. Finally, the postdoctoral fellows are expected to seek fellowships and also support PI’s grant application as well as writing reviews and manuscripts through which the postdoctoral fellows will gain a deep understanding on the art of scientific writing and presentation.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Medicine – Hematology/Oncology

Two postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the research laboratory of Dr. Mateusz Opyrchal at Indiana University School of Medicine. The candidates will work on funded projects with a focus on translational cancer immunology. The recruits will be joining projects in targeted protein degradation and mechano-signaling, and they will have an opportunity to develop independent focus. They will have an opportunity to collaborate with other laboratories at Indiana University Simon Cancer Center, Indiana University and Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Center. With the translational focus, there will be opportunities to direct their research to direct patient applications and treatments. Candidates should have experience in in-vitro and mouse models (xenograft, GEMM, etc). Experience in cancer biology and immunology is preferred.
