The project looks at the unintended consequences associated with pervasive AI-enabled surveillance and has two key objectives. First, understanding the societal impact associated with pervasive digital surveillance, and the incorporation of the product of this surveillance into a range of consequential State and non-State decision-making processes. A particular concern is the potential impact on the processes by which individuals develop their identity/personality, and how this may in turn affect the functioning of democratic society. Second, developing the human rights law framework in order to better respond to the challenges posed by the digital era, with a focus on understanding how human rights law can better protect identity formation and democratic functioning.

The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London is looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to support projects in the Networks group. The research is sponsored by Cisco Systems and is focused on developing methods to use temporal networks to study fraud in cryptocurrency networks.

We are looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in Participatory Research and Practice to join the Preventive Neurology Unit (PNU) to investigate the patient experience of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) care for minoritised ethnic groups, specifically Black British and South Asian communities living in socially deprived areas of London and Yorkshire. The postholder will work with our team to shape the research questions, develop recruitment strategies, generate data and analyze findings. The focus will be on service access, communication, and information needs, with an aim to identify barriers and challenges in these areas and co-design new service proposals with project stakeholders.

The successful applicant will investigate this pathway in adrenocortical carcinoma progression, validating novel prognostic markers and therapeutics in preclinical murine studies. Responsibilities will include: generation and manipulation of knockout/ overexpression mammalian cell lines, interpretation of RNAseq data, lipidomic and metabolic flux analysis, patient adrenal histopathology, with significant focus on preclinical studies testing therapies targeted against the sphingolipid pathway in xenotransplanted mouse models.

You will join the ATLAS group in the Particle Physics Research Centre (PPRC), to complete the high precision measurement of the weak mixing angle based on Run-1 data (hep-ex 1710.05167; ATLAS-CONF-2018-037). You will also contribute to a new measurement based on Run-2 and Run-3 data. The successful candidate will also provide support to our PhD students and contribute to the broader activities of the group and the school.

We are seeking an ambitious postdoctoral researcher to develop modelling/simulation capabilities for predicting the physicochemical properties including emission characteristics of renewable liquid synthetic fuels. Using molecular dynamics simulations and machine learning, the project will establish a database / mapping to guide the synthetic fuel utilisation in real engines over a wide range of conditions. The researcher will work closely with a range of collaborators including experimentalists throughout the project.

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to investigate the role of iRhom2 in the early stages of Oesophageal Squamous Cell Carcinogenesis. We have previously identified dominantly-inherited point mutations in the gene encoding iRhom2 (RHBDF2) to be associated with Tylosis (OMIM:148500), an inherited syndrome of a hyperproliferative skin condition (palmoplantar keratoderma) and a very high lifetime risk of developing oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). This is the only known highly penetrant genetic predisposition to OSCC making Tylosis a unique model for studying early-stage oesophageal carcinogenesis.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Chemistry or a related field. They should provide evidence of expertise in organometallic synthesis, catalysis and main group chemistry. A proven track record of published research in low-valent main group compounds is highly desirable. Self-motivation, an ability to lead a project and excellent research management and interpersonal skills are essential. The post-holder will conduct research on the development and application of cooperative systems based on low-valent main group compounds and base metal complexes, with the goal of developing new catalytic systems. The successful candidate will be expected to design experiments, analyse the experimental data and report it in the form of conference presentations and research papers. The candidate will join a vibrant and multi-disciplinary research team with passion for innovation and impact. They will have the opportunity to travel to conferences and visit potential collaborators.
