Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Position in Ultrafast Vibrational Spectroscopy of CO2 Reduction
In the context of a newly approved research grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation, a postdoc position is available at the Research Group of Prof. Peter Hamm at the Department of Chemistry, University of Zurich, Switzerland. The project plans to elucidate the reaction cycles of molecular and solid-state CO2 reduction systems by time-resolved IR and 2D IR spectroscopy. The overall project plans to combine electrochemical techniques with femtosecond laser spectroscopy, two research fields that traditionally have little overlap. The project is a follow up of our work in photocatalytic water splitting, and representative publications are (albeit not yet on CO2 reduction):

The overarching aim of the project is to broaden our understanding of how suicidal ideation can best be predicted and to develop precise and efficacious smartphone-based treatment strategies.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in Alzheimer’s disease clinical and translational research
Our research focuses on the early stages of cognitive decline, delirium and persisting neuropsychiatric syndromes in late adulthood and old age. Our main goals are to 1) better understand the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders, and their relevance for the clinical manifestations and the course of disease, 2) identify and validate molecular biomarkers for prediction, early detection and differential diagnosis of cognitive impairment and related neuropsychiatric symptoms and 3) identify risk factors and protective factors of cerebral aging to assess risk and develop approaches for prevention and treatment. The current projects focus on the integration of multi-omics data with clinical data from an existing cohort as well as a multi-centric cohort with ongoing recruitment and follow-up. The project includes several collaborations with local and international groups and labs.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Research Position at the Chair of Comparative Politics
The Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich invites applications for a postdoctoral position at the Chair of Comparative Politics held by Prof. Daniele Caramani.

Applicants are expected to have or acquire knowledge of the German language within one year. Language courses are supported.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher: Remote Sensing of Water Balance and Dynamics 80-100 %
We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, solution-focused and independent scientist with a passion for remote sensing technology and interest to address environmental sciences problems with a high societal impact. The successful candidate will develop workflows to assess the water balance and surface/ground water dynamics in the Mekong and the Red River delta, Vietnam, with active and passive satellite remote sensing data. The collection of diverse satellite data and in situ measurements from local partners or during field campaigns is one of the tasks. Strong exchange and knowledge transfer with project partners to connect remote sensing results with geo-hydrological modelling and scenario calculations is expected. The documentation and outreach of results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at conferences is integral part of the work. The successful candidate will gain experiences in teaching and supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD candidates.

You will be joining the Department of Computational Linguistics, which has 5 faculties and around 40 researchers in the areas of text technologies, machine learning for NLP, phonetics and speech. Your position involves collaboration with our interdisciplinary and international project partners.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc: Gene therapy-mediated modulation of blood-brain barrier function 100 %
Vascular health and functionality underpin both physiological and pathological processes. Indeed, brain vascular disturbance characterizes many fatal diseases such as stroke, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, as well as increases the risk of cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. We aim to identify new ways to suppress disease-induced barrier changes and thereby aid restoration of neurological function post injury. We showed that the pivotal transcription factor hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) plays a key role in endothelial functionality. Subsequently, using novel transgenic mouse lines we further demonstrated that HIF-1 deletion specifically in perivascular pericytes dramatically prevents hypoxia-induced BBB permeability. Excitingly, pericyte HIF-1 blockade also suppressed stroke-induced vascular permeability, diminished ischemic damage and improved sensorimotor function after 3 days reperfusion. These observations suggest that modulation of HIF-1 levels in the vascular compartment could significantly benefit injury outcome. Now, we plan to exploit the unique features of adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated gene therapy to fine-tune HIF-1 stabilization at the BBB during different injury stages and thus reveal the clinical relevance of such a strategy.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher position
Our research focuses on elucidating how the innate immune response, governed by pattern recognition receptors and cell death pathways are involved in kindling chronic inflammation at the epidermal barrier, and how this drives the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory dermatological diseases, including psoriasis, pityriasis rubra pilaris and generalized pustular psoriasis. In particular, we investigate how causative mutations associated with these diseases impact the innate immune response. Our goal is to better understand underlying disease mechanisms to reveal new therapeutic strategies for exploration, in particular for diseases that have an unmet clinical need. Our department is well-equipped for experimentally and pre-clinical research utilizing tissue culture, mouse models and with methods of molecular biology, immunology, histology, as well as bioinformatics.
