(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in cereal cell wall structure and food technology

We are amidst a transition to a biobased and circular economy, where agricultural side streams constitute valuable raw materials. Wheat bran constitutes the main by-product from wheat milling and it is currently mostly used as animal feed. However, wheat bran contains valuable biomolecules (structural polysaccharides, proteins, and phenolics), with great potential to produce new food ingredients and materials. Biorefinery processing of wheat bran is usually performed via alkaline, hydrothermal and enzymatic treatments. However, the complex interactions between the molecular components in wheat bran hinders their efficient fractionation.

(13) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in quantum technology to study entanglement in quantum circutis

The research includes fabrication of superconducting electronic circuits using methods of nanoscale circuit lithography, and measurement of their quantum properties at ultra-low temperature with the latest digital high-speed electronics.  We want to create so-called cluster states in the microwave frequency band (4-8 GHz) by synchronous pumping of a nonlinear superconducting circuit at multiple frequencies.  In theory, cluster states can be used for quantum information processing in a one-way quantum computer.  Our goal is to demonstrate this in an experiment.  Your work will primarily be at KTH in group of Prof. David Haviland, but the research project is a collaboration with Aalto University in Helsinki Finland, and part of you time will be spent in the group of Prof. Pertti Hakonen.

(14) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Deep learning for protein-protein interactions

Protein structure is essential for understanding their function as well as for developing drugs targeting proteins. Recently, a deep learning method that can predict the structure of most proteins was developed. However, proteins do not act alone, thus, the next major challenge is to predict protein-protein interactions. Despite the recent advances, there are many proteins that cannot be built accurately, nor are we able to always distinguish interacting from non-interacting protein pairs. In this project, we are recruiting two postdocs to leverage recent advances in the field of machine learning to build better deep-learning models for predicting protein-protein interactions and to apply these methods to biologically relevant problems.

In this 2 Million EUR project, we want to dramatically change the way Internet Services are constructed.

Your work will entail design, implementation, and evaluation of distributed systems and networks for building ultra-low latency Internet services. Examples include advanced highly streamlined server software, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) chains at the true speed of the underlying hardware, intra datacenter load-balancing, and agile and efficient geo-distributed data storage systems that meet their Service Level Objectives.

About KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden – Official Website

KTH Royal Institute of Technology, abbreviated KTH, is a public research university in Stockholm, Sweden. KTH conducts research and education within engineering and technology, and is Sweden’s largest technical university. Currently, KTH consists of five schools with four campuses in and around Stockholm.

KTH was established in 1827 as Teknologiska Institutet (Institute of Technology), and had its roots in Mekaniska skolan (School of Mechanics) that was established in 1798 in Stockholm. But the origin of KTH dates back to the predecessor to Mekaniska skolan, the Laboratorium Mechanicum, which was established in 1697 by Swedish scientist and innovator Christopher Polhem. Laboratorium Mechanicum combined education technology, a laboratory and an exhibition space for innovations. In 1877 KTH received its current name, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (KTH Royal Institute of Technology). The King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf is the High Protector of KTH.

KTH is the highest ranked technical university in Sweden. It is ranked top 100 in the world among all universities in the 2020 QS World University Rankings.
