You will have a PhD or be a PhD candidate who has already submitted your thesis prior to starting the position, with a research track record on multi-drone coordination, in particular on distributed approaches such as collective and reinforcement learning.

We are seeking to recruit a research fellow in Earth observation of the Polar regions at the University of Leeds, to investigate historical and ongoing changes in the Arctic and Antarctica.

You will join a team of glaciologists at the University of Leeds, using satellite data to improve our understanding of ice sheet-ocean interactions, and the processes driving recent change. This group uses state-of-the-art Earth observation data and advanced computer techniques to study the Polar regions. We specialise in using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and altimetry satellite data to measure important glaciological parameters such as the speed of glacier flow, ice shelf thickness change and the filling and draining of sub-glacial lakes. The group receives research funding on major projects from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the European Space Agency (ESA). We collaborate closely with many international research partners on funded projects, providing a fantastic opportunity to make connections and broaden your network. Professor Anna E. Hogg is co-director of the NERC SENSE Centre for Doctoral Training, in partnership with the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), and the University of Edinburgh, providing a network of Earth observation researchers distributed across the UK.

The School of Psychology at the University of Leeds are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team studying the neurobiological mechanisms of strategy use to improve memory in ageing. The 1-year position will contribute to a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). You will work with Professor Melanie Burke and Dr Richard Allen (University of Leeds), along with Prof Louise Brown Nicholls (PI, University of Strathclyde), Dr Claudia von Bastian (University of Sheffield) and Prof Mario Parra Rodrigues (University of Strathclyde) on the project ‘Strategy Training to support healthy cognitive ageing: behavioural, neuroimaging and real-world investigations’.

Would you like to use state-of-the-art modelling of past climates to inform climate model development?  Would you like to work as part of a large international research team at the leading edge of paleoclimate modelling?

Understanding how climate will change in the future is of critical importance.  However, models that are used to predict future climate change are mainly validated against recent observations that are not broad enough to encompass the range of scenarios for which the models are used.

Paleoclimate modelling allows models to be tested against climatic data from a large range of different climates that occurred in the past. For example, those with much higher CO2 or larger ice sheets.  If the models can accurately reproduce these climates, it can provide confidence that they can also accurately simulate the future.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Health Data Science/Medical Statistics to join our world leading team in the Academic Unit for Ageing & Stroke Research (ASR), Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, located at the Bradford Institute for Health Research. The ASR is a long-established applied health research centre with an international reputation for research related to older people and stroke. As the University of Leeds host Unit for Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) North, the ASR is recognised as a UK and international leader in Health Data Research relating to older people. Influential recent health data research work has included development and national implementation of the multi-award-winning electronic frailty index (eFI), alongside prognostic prediction modelling work, and medicines optimisation. ASR research outputs have generated major impact through direct influence on UK healthcare policy, are cited in clinical guidelines worldwide, and have led to international changes in practice for the identification and management of older people living with frailty. The successful applicant will join this established team of mixed-methods researchers.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to advance research into the SGTA/BAG6 complex, a key regulator of membrane protein homeostasis. This pathway is crucial in determining whether membrane proteins are properly targeted or degraded, with dysregulation linked to diseases like Alzheimer’s, cystic fibrosis, and cancer.

The successful candidate will explore the molecular mechanisms governing proteostasis, with a focus on protein triaging, stability, and interactions. Key responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments using advanced molecular biology techniques such as cloning, mutagenesis, and mammalian cell culture, including knockout and knock-in cell line generation. You will investigate protein dynamics using methods like co-immunoprecipitation, pulse-chase assays, and quantitative Western blotting.  Additionally, you will analyse protein stability and interactions through biophysical techniques (e.g., circular dichroism, dynamic light scattering) and utilize mass spectrometry-based approaches (e.g., BioID2) to study protein interactomes. Advanced imaging techniques, such as confocal microscopy, FRAP, and super-resolution methods like PALM, will be employed to visualise cellular processes.
