Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow in Crop Quantitative Genetics

This is an exciting opportunity to join UQ’s Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation to contribute to the development of innovative approaches to exploit genetic variation and accelerate the improvement of legume grain crops for Australia, such as chickpea, faba bean and lentil. In this position, you will develop and apply innovative breeding approaches and contribute to UQ’s leading AI-guided breeding pipeline, to rapidly stack high-value haplotypes for a range of traits into elite germplasm. This will require the integration of several technologies, such as genomics, machine learning, genetic simulation and speed breeding. This is a unique opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow to learn from leaders in the field and to further develop their expertise and research profile.

Large biobanks, such as the UK Biobank, have rich phenotypic and genetic information that can be used to address fundamental questions about the association between genomes and phenomes, the association between different traits (including disease) and the limits of phenotypic prediction from multivariate data. This Project aims to use multi-modal imaging data from the UK Biobank to dissect genetic variation of phenotypes derived from imaging data and quantify their association with other (non-imaging) complex traits.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to be part of a team to conduct experiments as part of an NHMRC funded IDEAS grant. In collaboration with the Chief Investigator, the successful applicant will be part of a basic neuroscience/pharmaceutical, chemistry/clinical psychiatric team.
