(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoc med erfaring i epidemiologi og kendskab til folkesundhed i Arktis

Du vil primært indgå i det videnskabeligt arbejde relateret til forskningsprojektet Promoting Healthy Aging of Sámi and Inuit Elders Through Co-Designed Digital Health Tool. Projektets formål er at fremme bæredygtig sundhed og trivsel blandt ældre samere og kalaallit inuit (65 år og ældre) i Norge, Sverige og Grønland ved at udvikle kultursensitivt tilpassede digitale sundhedsværktøjer på både oprindelige og skandinaviske sprog.

I denne del af projektet vil du i tæt samarbejde med øvrige medarbejdere på projektet bidrage til at undersøge ældres sundhedstilstand på baggrund af eksisterende befolkningsundersøgelser i Grønland og Sapmi (Norge og Sverige). Denne del af projektet er afgørende for at fastlægge den videre retning for udviklingsarbejdet

(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoc in the field of epithelial transport physiology

The laboratory of Henrik Dimke, Cardiovascular and Renal Research Unit at the Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Southern Denmark is seeking a highly motivated postdoc in the field of epithelial transport physiology. Focus will be directed toward understanding the importance of divalent cation channels and paracellular claudins in renal and intestinal handling of calcium and magnesium. The postdoc position is expected to start in February 2026 and for a period of 30 months.

To address the role of divalent cation channels, the successful applicant will use inducible cell-specific transgenic strategies coupled with detailed physiological characterization of these models. This will be done using a variety of techniques including metabolic cage studies in mice, a range of molecular and biochemical techniques, primary culture, as well as imaging. In addition to research, the duties of the postdoctoral fellow will also include administrative and teaching tasks. 

The Research Unit of Cardiovascular and Renal Research focuses on innovative molecular and biomedical research related to cardiovascular and renal physiology. We offer a stimulating, international research environment where English is the preferred language at meetings and seminars. You will work in the brand new NytSUND building being established in connection to the hospital and university campus with modern laboratories and animal facilities. You can read more about the department and the research units here.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in translational atherosclerosis research

You will lead SIF project work package 2, focusing on atherosclerotic plaque samples collected from local hospitals in the region. Your primary responsibility will be to develop smooth muscle cell-based assays guided by single-cell spatial transcriptomic datasets generated by project partners, and to apply these assays to test candidate drugs and interventions for potential atherosclerosis therapies.

You will play a key role across the SIF project, which also encompasses single-cell resolution spatial transcriptomics of human plaques to precisely identify and characterize disease-relevant smooth muscle cell phenotypes, a parallel track of organoid-based assays, and the upscaling of assays for industrial drug library screening. Your expertise and insights will be highly valued across all facets of the project.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc Position in Embedded AI for Runtime Reconfigurable Systems

The SDU Software Engineering section at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute (Faculty of Engineering) invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the intersection of edge computing, software engineering, and artificial intelligence, starting November 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is part of the REINS project, which develops innovative methods and tools for adaptive, AI-driven embedded control systems that can be reconfigured at runtime.

In this role, the postdoc will focus on the development of embedded edge AI software applied to a use case of heavy construction machinery to improve efficiency, adaptability, and safety under varying operating conditions. The work will involve designing and prototyping intelligent control algorithms, developing runtime reconfiguration mechanisms, and ensuring robust system integration in collaboration with industrial partner Leica Geosystems Technology A/S, part of Hexagon. The postdoc will also collaborate with academic and industry partners across the REINS consortium to exchange insights on embedded AI design, real-time system performance, and safety-critical requirements, and will support the management of SDU-led work packages, including deliverable preparation, milestone tracking, and communication across the consortium.

The Center for Polariton-driven Light-Matter Interactions (POLIMA) at The Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark, is seeking a talented researcher to fill out a position as postdoctoral researcher for 2 years in the area of computational nanophotonics, with a focus on semi-analytical and numerical methods for treating electron-beam spectroscopies. (09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-Doctoral Researcher in Robot System Design for High Voltage Powerline Maintenance

The role involves conducting research into innovative electromechanical robotic systems integrated with advanced sensing technologies, enabling the autonomous detection, interaction with, and replacement of small items (less than 10 kg). The position emphasizes system design and development for a variety of robotic applications, particularly those aligned with the section’s core focus on high-voltage line inspection and maintenance.

This work supports SDU Digital and High-Frequency Electronics’ internationally recognized leadership in advanced robotic technologies for infrastructure inspection and maintenance. Special attention will be given to developing robust electromechanical, sensing, and control solutions capable of operating safely in electrically harsh environments, as part of the Robots4Green EUDP project.

The research will bridge both established and emerging technical expertise within the section, encompassing areas such as FPGA and neuromorphic computing, Edge AI, machine learning, power electronics, and self-recharging technologies.

Your role will primarily focus on research and support teaching involving course planning and the supervision of BSc and master students in Electronics and Robotics. You will also collaborate with top researchers in robotics as well as digital and high-frequency domains, leading research to address global societal challenges. You are also expected to publish your research in high-impact journals and leading conferences and actively contribute to funding applications to support and expand the research area.

(10) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Deep Sea Benthic Biogeochemistry and Technology

We are pleased to announce a Postdoctoral position to investigate biogeochemical cycling in deep sea benthic environments using in situ technologies. This position is based at the Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, Denmark, and involves close collaboration with the Deep-Sea Ecology and Technology group at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Germany and with our international academic and industry partners.

The successful candidate will be embedded within Nordcee, an international research section focusing on biogeochemical cycling, earth evolution, and microbial processes. Nordcee houses a Center of Excellence for deep sea studies called HADAL. The Postdoc is expected to work closely with mechanical engineers and technicians at SDU and at AWI, and with our partners in industry to develop the next generation of our in-situ sensing technologies to investigate carbon cycling in deep sea environments. Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Testing underwater frames and instrumentation, including sensor testing and calibration
  • Quantifying benthic biogeochemical fluxes and momentum fluxes in situ from high-density datasets (e.g. using eddy covariance)
  • Quantifying biogeochemical fluxes in the laboratory (e.g. using oxygen microprofiling and sediment incubations)
  • Sediment solid phase and porewater analyses
  • Coordinating shipment of equipment, including servicing and maintenance
  • Joining expeditions aboard research vessels
  • Presenting results at scientific conferences and thematic workshops, and publishing peer-reviewed articles in international journals

The postdoc will work in the SDU Climate Elite Centre project “Mobilizing Post-Anthropocentric Climate Action: A New Root Narrative” (PACA). PACA seeks to map post-anthropocentric social theories that challenge the nature-culture divide and investigate traces of these theories in the population. It assesses the extent to which such practices and beliefs can provide a positive narrative for the radical re-organization of production and consumption practices, as well as the potential role universities might play as mediators of this emergent post-anthropocentrism. This project has the ambition to develop into an international hub for research in post-anthropocentric consumption and production systems as foundational for a sustainable economy.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: 2-year Postdoc position on Spiking Neural Network (SNN) Algorithm Development for Seizure Detection and Prediction

The project is leveraging the latest research within brain-inspired data processing aiming at reducing workload and improving accuracy of Long-Term Video-Electroencephalographic Monitoring (LTVEM) in the hospital for management and diagnosis of epilepsy. The technology is built on brain computer interfaces equipped with a Spiking Neural Network (SNN) and aims at early detection of epileptic seizures. The first prototype, CEN01, is expected to be implemented in hospitals, giving a more accurate and less time-consuming early detection of seizure.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Position in Computer Science

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a PhD in computer science, computational chemistry / biochemistry, applied mathematics, or a related area. The ideal candidate has strong familiarity with several of the following subjects: algorithmics, mathematical modelling, graph transformation, algorithm engineering. Applications of these areas to systems chemistry, systems biology, metabolic networks, or microbial communities is an advantage but not a must. Solid competences in programming and ease with formal thinking are prerequisites.

The project is based on the novel application of formalisms, algorithms, and computational methods from computer science to the modeling of microbial communities, for use in health science. We aim to expand these methods and their formal foundations, create efficient algorithms and implementations of them, and ultimately use these implementations for research in understanding the functionality and stability of intestinal microbial communities. The Department of Design, Media and Educational Science (Philosophy Section) invites applications for a 2-year postdoc position on the topic of moral and political philosophy in relation to extreme wealth. The position is part of the research project, The Morality of Extreme Wealth, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark and is available from 01-02-2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The project is a collaboration between PI, Lasse Nielsen (SDU) and Co-PI, David V. Axelsen (University of Essex). 

The project explores how moral reasons to worry about inequality and poverty are transformed when wealth becomes extreme and aims to build new theory on the morality of extreme wealth. The project aims at three significant academic contributions: (1) to explore and map out distinctive moral reasons to be concerned with extreme wealth from the perspective of distributive justice, (2) to analyze the role of individual responsibility in a theory of extreme wealth morality, and (3) to evaluate the moral obligations of the extremely wealthy in a society with existing injustices.
