PhD must have been received within the past 3 years. This is a temporary training position that can be renewed annually, for a maximum of five years, based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. 

The postdoctoral researcher will support an ongoing research project on social engagement and cognitive outcomes in later life. The candidate will work directly with Dr. Sae Hwang Han and will have the opportunity to co-author publications. Position will be funded for one year with potential for renewal.

This postdoctoral fellow position will perform research within the Center for Generative Artificial Intelligence and its parent organization, the Machine Learning Laboratory. Successful candidates will be appointed within the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, or the College of Information contingent upon their immediate faculty supervisor. Applicants will be reviewed and accepted on an ongoing basis. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled hydroclimate postdoctoral fellow to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in atmospheric science, hydroclimate change, data analysis, and numerical modeling. The candidate will be based at UT Austin and be affiliated in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. The researcher will get an opportunity to actively collaborate with the Texas Water Development Board. Austin is a highly vibrant city and provides access to numerous activities beyond the research and academic experience through UT Austin. Under the supervision of Dr. Zong-Liang Yang, this research will develop a methodology to derive future projected runoff and reservoir evaporation for a select river basin in Texas.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a postdoctoral fellow position (term subject to performance and research program needs/funding) to assist with a new research program largely focused on mapping disadvantaged communities (colonias) in Texas. A key focus of the research program is to use remote sensing and machine learning techniques to map and characterize the evolution of colonias through time. Essential for this position is the ability to a) implement remote sensing techniques to map the evolution of colonias through time, b) consider social and environmental stressors (including floods) on resident populations, and c) coordinate with academic and government collaborators from a wide array of backgrounds. This individual would also be an active member of the research team, participating in scientific activities (presentations, proposals, meetings) as needed.

The successful candidate will work in the plasma physics group by performing simulations and data analysis of solar wind turbulence. They will perform 1D to 3D hybrid simulations of Alfvénic fluctuations to use in conjunction with a machine learning algorithm to develop an augmented global model for the solar wind. The successful candidate will also perform data analysis from recent and past missions (Parker Solar Probe, Helios and Wind missions) to compare numerical predictions with observations. In this position, the successful candidate is expected to participate in weekly group meetings, and to disseminate results at workshops and conferences.

The Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Dr. Regina Mangieri in the Division of Pharmacology and Toxicology to perform research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to investigate the neurobiological mechanisms of pathological aggression and aggression-alcohol interactions. The person in this position will be responsible for performing research combines brain slice electrophysiology and circuit-based approaches with behavioral testing and pharmacology.

The Meyers Lab and UT Center for Pandemic Decision Science at The University of Texas at Austin are immediately seeking outstanding postdoctoral scholars to contribute to modeling the spread, surveillance, forecasting, and control of COVID-19, influenza, RSV and other respiratory viruses. Research will be aimed at elucidating epidemiological characteristics, developing robust modeling tools to support outbreak preparedness and response efforts across the US, and providing decision-support for outbreak control efforts at the local, state and national levels.

We seek candidates with strong quantitative training in one or more of the following areas: (1) modeling of infectious disease dynamics, (2) statistics, machine learning and AI, (3) operations research and optimization. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology, strong coding skills, and interdisciplinary research experience.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a 1-year postdoctoral fellow position (with the possibility of an extension based upon performance and project needs/funding) to assist with processing and interpretation of multispectral thermal infrared data of prescribed fires as part of a larger project on active fire (hot spot) detection, fire propagation modeling, 3D plume characterization, and assessing environmental impacts of fires. The aim of the project is to quantify the thermal and gas emissions from prescribed fires in 3D in near real-time using thermal infrared spectroscopy. This will help determine relationships between fire intensity and vegetation change, with the goal of predicting the gas emissions from prescribed and wildland fires.

The postdoctoral fellow will join a team developing novel thermal infrared imagers for UAV deployment to characterize thermal and gas emission from wildland fires. The individual will be responsible for data collection, gas retrieval algorithm development, and thermodynamic modeling of wildfires, and evaluating vegetation change based on fire severity. The position requires the integration of multiple geophysical datasets and interpretations, and the development of new concepts and methods to automate the processing of field data in near real-time to provide insights to wildland fire commanders regarding thermal and gas dynamics, burn intensity, and rate of spread.
