(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdocs for new European research project at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University

You will be part of national and international funded projects focusing on the development of next-generation technologies for sustainable energy systems. Our research spans: advanced power converter systems for Power-to-X (PtX) applications, electrochemical energy storage, microgrid solutions, the integration of quantum computing into power systems, and other emerging energy technologies aimed at decarbonizing modern energy and transportation sectors.

We design solutions for a wide range of applications, including smart cities and residential self-consumption, backup power in isolated areas, energy management systems, and grid balancing for renewable power integration. A key line of work is the creation of intelligent, modular, and scalable battery pack concepts for urban electromobility—covering everything from mid-size electric vehicles to large electric buses.
Another important focus is the development of disruptive power converter topologies, enabled by wide bandgap semiconductors and cutting-edge digital control. These innovations enhance efficiency, power density, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability across applications.

In parallel, we advance microgrid technologies, supporting developing countries in achieving climate neutrality by integrating photovoltaic systems, biomass-based combined heat and power (CHP), and application-specific energy storage systems. We are also exploring how quantum computing can unlock new optimization and control strategies in future power systems.

Our projects are conducted in an international and multidisciplinary environment, bringing together expertise from across Europe in electrochemistry, energy storage, power electronics, process engineering, smart sensors, IoT, and solar power. Together, we pursue the common goal of accelerating the decarbonization of energy and transportation systems through innovation and cross-sector collaboration.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Drug delivery – RNA therapeutics

The major barrier to unlocking the full potential of nucleic acid–based therapeutics is their inefficient delivery to the cytosol. Current technologies like lipid nanopartcles (LNPs) are limited by poor biodistribution and inefficient endosomal escape. This project aims to validate a novel LNP-free delivery strategy for RNA therapeutics such as siRNA and antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs). The project is funded by a Distinguished Innovator Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and carried out under the supervision of Professor Claus Elsborg Olesen. The project’s main objective is to optimize the RNA delivery platform through in vitro screening models, followed by in vivo safety and proof-of-concept studies.

(12) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant–Microbe Interactions

The Plant Molecular Biology section at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researcher to join a dynamic and international research team. You will play a central role in advancing our understanding of the molecular dialogue between plants and their associated microorganisms, with the long-term goal of contributing to more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.

The research team you will join is coordinating an international program that brings together leading scientists from around the world to investigate beneficial plant–microbe associations and harness their potential for sustainable food production.

Our focus is on uncovering the molecular mechanisms by which plants and microbes interact—ranging from early recognition events to colonization strategies and microbiome assembly. Within this framework, the advertised postdoctoral project is specifically focused on bacterial genetics and genomics, aiming to unravel the genetic basis of bacterial traits that determine successful symbiosis and microbiome interactions. This knowledge forms the foundation for the development of novel, microbe-based solutions to reduce the need for chemical inputs and improve crop productivity, particularly in smallholder farming systems.

Your contributions will directly support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to food security, sustainability, and climate resilience.

(13) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in wetland biogeochemistry for resilient ecosystem restoration

The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a postdoctoral position in wetland biogeochemistry for resilient ecosystem restoration, starting 01-03-2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a 2-year period.
Wetland restoration is increasingly promoted as a nature-based solution to climate change and biodiversity loss. However, the long-term resilience of restored wetlands under pressures such as climate extremes and wildfires remains poorly understood. Biogeochemical processes governing carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling, as well as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, play a central role in determining whether restored wetlands can deliver sustained climate mitigation, biodiversity support, and water quality improvement.

You will be part of a large international Horizon Europe research project focused on enhancing climate benefits and ecosystem services in forested and rewetted peatlands across Europe. Your task will be to investigate the biogeochemical mechanisms that underpin the resilience of restored wetlands, integrating field observations, laboratory experiments, and modelling approaches. You will explore how nutrient dynamics, hydrological variability, and disturbances (e.g., droughts, floods, wildfires) influence carbon sequestration, GHG fluxes, and ecosystem stability in restored wetlands. Your work will contribute to the development of robust indicators and strategies for resilient wetland ecosystems, supporting adaptive management and evidence-based restoration practices.

We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment. We also expect that you will take part in our teaching activities and that you will report research results in high-impact scientific journals.
