Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position on structural electrolyes for structural batteries
This call is for a postdoctoral position who will have a key role in an exciting interdisciplinary project between three departments at Chalmers University of Technology. The aim of the project is to develop highly functional structural batteries for electric vehicles, ships and in particular aircrafts, where additional weight has to be minimized. The project encompasses applied and fundamental aspects of research, and the findings are expected to be utilized for the realization of novel structural batteries within a few years only
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position on structural electrolytes for structural batteries
The purpose of this research project is to develop novel structural electrolytes for structural batteries. The structural battery is a modern battery concept that integrates mechanical strength and conductive properties of carbon fibres, which hence constitute an intimate part of anode and cathode electrodes. Differently from conventional batteries, the structural battery is a fibre reinforced polymer composite, developed to provide multiple functions desirably with an orientational dependence. In particular, the structural electrolyte needs to both transfer load and transport ions. However, this requires composite materials able to provide both high ionic conductivities and good mechanical properties. Unfortunately, such materials do not exist yet and it is the aim of this project to fill this gap. The project should lead to a deeper understanding of the operational mechanisms of the structural electrolytes, so their properties can be optimized for structural batteries.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in microwave packaging and multi-physical modeling
In this position you will be part of forming the future generations wireless communication and sensing systems. You will investigate application-driven challenges in high-power multi-antenna transmitters. Your work will be dedicated to the design, modeling, and experimental implementation of these systems -challenges that incorporate research in Microwave Engineering, Active Semiconductor Devices, Electromagnetism, Antenna design, Thermal transport, and Mechanical engineering. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in sustainable antifouling strategies in shipping
The aim of the postdoc position is to further develop an existing decision-support tool (HullMASTER) to evaluate antifouling strategies for ships based on several sustainability criteria. HullMASTER was developed for the Baltic Sea region to allow a comparison between different hull maintenance strategies in terms of costs for operators, as well as to external costs due to environmental and human health degradation. The successful candidate will be responsible to expand the geographical scope of the tool to European scale.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in forest-based carbon fibers
Forest-based carbon fibers from certified forests have a high value and potential to stimulate new value chains in the area of light-weight composites. These carbon fiber reinforced composites might be used in new business areas, e.g. the transport sector to reduce fuel consumption and increase the range of electric vehicles etc.. Other applications are turbine blades for wind mills, and for sports and leisure. The aim of the project is to deepen the understanding on how variations in the raw materials affect the fibers and the conversion, and how the process, and consequently the carbon fibers, can be further optimized. A special focus will be on unraveling interesting synergistic effects of combining cellulose and lignin.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in Electrochemical Recording of Neurotransmission
This position will focus on “Electrochemical recording of neurotransmission” and involves the development of new analytical tools and bringing this novel technology to the field of neurochemistry. Here, the new electrochemical sensor technology will be implemented for studies on neurotransmission with focus on glutamate signalling at healthy cells and cells with development of pathology such as Alzheimers’s disease.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in optimal control for quantum gate error reduction – a collaboration between Chalmers University and Aalto University.
The reduction of quantum gate errors represents the most important problem in the development of quantum computers in any technological platform. By this metric, superconducting qubits constitute a leading platform, with the best demonstrated two-qubit gate errors currently at the 0.1-0.2% level. Meaningful quantum computing requires that these errors be reduced to 0.01% in a scalable and reliable way across the multi-qubit chip. You will work on reducing the gate errors that are limited by systematic control errors.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in simulation of open quantum systems with giant atoms
This postdoc position is part of the 5-year project “Quantum simulation and communication with giant atoms”, funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, with the aim of developing useful applications based on an exciting new paradigm in quantum optics: giant atoms. Giant atoms couple to light at multiple points, which gives rise to interference effects. In this project you will use both analytical and numerical tools to harness these interference effects to control the interaction between giant atoms (which function as qubits) and their surroundings, to create quantum-simulation protocols for large molecules. The project is carried out in the stimulating research environment of the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT), a 12-year, billion-SEK initiative started in 2018 with the purpose of advancing Swedish academia and industry to the forefront of quantum technology, and to build a Swedish quantum computer.
Chalmers University of Technology is a Swedish university located in Gothenburg that focuses on research and education in technology, natural sciences, architecture, mathematics, maritime and other management areas. The university was founded in 1829 following a donation by William Chalmers, a director of the Swedish East India Company. He donated part of his fortune for the establishment of an “industrial school”. Chalmers was run as a private institution until 1937, when the institute became a state-owned university. In 1994, the school was incorporated as an aktiebolag under the control of the Swedish Government, the faculty and the Student Union.
