This position will analyse, compare and visualise brain neuroimaging data derived from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, with the aim of understanding how a range of biological and environmental factors influence and interact with brain developmental processes to confer risk for mental illness. To achieve this, the Research Fellow will work on several projects being led by the Translational Neurobiology group as well as publicly available datasets such as the UK Biobank and Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study.

The Research Fellow is responsible for developing computational and methodological approaches for modern data science, working independently and collaboratively across applications and theory. Supported by funds from the ARC Future Fellowship of Professor Howard Bondell, the role focuses on creating innovative, interpretable, theoretically justified, and scalable statistical methodology for complex data.

The Research Fellow will join a team of researchers, led by Professor Tricia Eadie, in the REEaCh Centre at the Faculty of Education (FoE). The primary role of the Research Fellow will be project coordination on the Educational and Developmental Gains in Early Childhood (EDGE) study. The Research Fellow will have experience in working on research projects, preferably in the field of early childhood learning and/or development. In addition to undertaking the research role, the Research Fellow is expected to contribute to the research and academic community of FoE.  The Research Fellow will work closely with the EDGE study research team to support the research activities of the project, providing mentoring and guidance to research assistants and project officers engaged in the research. You will conduct, with support, guidance and mentoring, a program of internationally competitive research that contributes to the ARC Industry Laureate research led by Prof. Tim Fletcher, on the creation of smart rainwater grids to create alternative water supplies, reduce flood risk and protect urban waterways. The research, within the world-renowned Waterway Ecosystem Research Group, is being conducted in partnership with Melbourne Water. Inspired by the concept of solar panels and their feed-in-tariffs, the project will develop a real-time controlled smart grid, where owners of rainwater tanks receive income or financial compensation for their contributions to the flood-reduction and environmental-flow services provided by the grid

You will conduct, with support, guidance and mentoring, a program of internationally competitive research that contributes to the ARC Industry Laureate research led by Prof. Tim Fletcher, on the creation of smart rainwater grids to create alternative water supplies, reduce flood risk and protect urban waterways. You will also contribute to and publish research findings in international refereed journals and present results at seminars, conferences, and meetings. The term publish should be interpreted broadly and may include the submission of government policies, industry recommendations, or other outputs recognised by the discipline.
