Incumbent will work on a project using surgical skills and some combination of behavioral testing, electrophysiology, immunology and optical (TEM or confocal) imaging techniques to study the structure and function of intact, severed, and repaired spinal cords and peripheral nerves in the laboratory of George D Bittner, Professor of Neuroscience, Department of Neuroscience at The University of Texas at Austin.

The position is available for an initial duration of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory progress and availability of funds. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers at the Bureau of Economic Geology and the Cockrell School of Engineering. • Provide novel research on geomechanical and pore pressure models linking human operations to the evolving seismicity rates in Texas and New Mexico. The goal is to be able to construct models that explain the nucleation and evolution of seismicity. Model-inputs might include earthquake and hydrogeological data, stress-change models and ground deformation estimates (e.g. InSAR, GPS). In addition, you will contribute to collaborative research modeling stress changes in the subsurface due to geo-energy related operations, validating potential identification of causal factors. The results could be integrated in a regional time-dependent seismic hazard model estimating approaches for risk mitigation.

The Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a postdoctoral associate to model carbonation of ultramafic rocks under the supervision of Prof. Marc Hesse in the Department of Geological Sciences and Dr. Esti Ukar in the Bureau of Economic Geology. The fellow will be joining a multidisciplinary, international team of academic and industry stakeholders funded through a DOE ARPA-E MINER project that aims to combine mining of critical elements with geological carbon dioxide storage through in-situ carbon mineralization in the subsurface.

Conduct, manage, and grow basic and applied research programs in defense-related disciplines such as signal processing, statistical modeling, information fusion, underwater acoustics modeling, and target modeling and tracking in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory.

Model propagation in ocean environments and apply to practical Naval sonar system analyses and studies. Develop and examine signal processing methods and interpret data processing results. Participate in the research and development efforts within the Environmental Sciences Laboratory (ESL) of Applied Research Laboratories.

This position works under the supervision of Dr. Matt Kammer-Kerwick, Senior Research Scientist, and Dr. Craig Watkins, Professor and Executive Director. The initial assignment is for one year from initial hire date, renewable for additional one-year periods (up to a total of 3 years) based on performance and funding.
