Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title:  Postdoctoral Associate – Land Use Value Program

The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics invites applications for a postdoc position to develop and provide annual estimate of land use values of open space for all jurisdictions utilizing land use-value assessment estimates. Duties include, but are not limited to: development of computational methods, maintenance of current models and data sets, identifying and testing alternative data sources, maintaining detailed design specification and written documentation for existing models, being responsible for the development of new computational methods and work with programmers to incorporate these methods into models based on systematic testing and validation relative to current and historical data. This position will work closely with Virginia’s Land Use-Value Assessment Program Director and Analyst, contribute to the annual development of agricultural and horticultural values, and design and present stakeholder programming and education. (04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Associate position with the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA to begin after August 10, 2025. The normal term of appointment will be two years. The position is on an interdisciplinary team of mathematicians, psychologists, and engineers who are exploring the dynamics of stress contagion in human crowds. The postdoc will work with colleagues from Virginia Tech and other collaborating universities to run, analyze, and model human evacuation experiments. Data will include motion capture and psychophysiology data to explore stress contagion and collective motion, as well as survey data of emotional states and personality metrics. Modeling efforts will focus on agent-based approaches, which may include both simulation studies and data-driven modeling approaches to understand mechanisms that drive stress contagion. In addition to teaching two lower-division mathematics classes per year, the postdoc will also be responsible for writing academic publications, including grant reports and publications.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available within the Tengfei Li research group starting in February 2026. The position will focus on work on electrocatalysis, including the following two research directions:
– Electrochemical CO2 reduction: electrocatalyst development; flow reactor design; integrated CO2 capture and reduction.
– Electrochemical NOx reduction and building C-N bonds: electroreduction of nitrate, nitrite & R-NO2; organic electrosynthesis; co-reduction of NOx & CO2.
The position responsibilities are given in the Job Duties section, below.
Dr. Tengfei Li obtained his PhD degree in Prof. Curtis Berlinguette’s lab at University of British Columbia in Canada in 2018. He then moved to Prof. Erwin Reisner’s lab at the University of Cambridge for postdoc program. In 2022, he started independent research at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has been awarded with the RSC Nanoscale Emerging Investigator and Canadian Banting Postdoc Fellowship. He will join Virginia Tech as an assistant professor in January 2026.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Associate

As a research associate, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing research and extension projects on the productivity and environmental impacts of forage-based livestock production systems. The goal for this position is to improve the sustainability of forage-livestock production systems in Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region through knowledge creation, integration, and sharing. Potential projects will take place at the SVAREC and at farm locations across Virginia. Through this position, the SVAREC will research and develop additional practices for grazing systems that have the potential to improve the sustainability of forage-based livestock production systems. These practices will include utilizing biosolids for fertilization, reducing the impacts of tall fescue toxicosis, enhancing grazing utilization, improving water quality, and sequestering carbon on-farm.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Associate

The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment in the group of Prof. Vito Scarola at Virginia Tech (scarola.phys.vt.edu).  The research involves the construction and optimization of measurement-based quantum computing protocols for quantum simulation of quantum many-body models.  Preference will be given to candidates familiar with the stabilizer formalism and the theory of quantum graph states.  Additional expertise in computational methods would be useful but is not necessary.  The Postdoctoral and Senior Research Associate positions will also involve opportunities for travel (once scientific travel is restored and safe) to present in conferences and to collaborate with other groups. Postdoctoral and Senior Research Associates will conduct research in the above areas and disseminate results in journal publications and conference presentations. Senior Research Associates will have additional responsibilities with mentoring the junior group members.

The Ye Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our team and contribute to an NIH-funded project focused on understanding how glioma hijacks the tumor microenvironment to drive malignant progression. Our research lies at the intersection of glial biology and brain cancer, with a particular emphasis on malignant glioma, the most aggressive form of primary brain tumor. The successful candidate will investigate the role of astrocytes—one of the most abundant and functionally diverse types of glial cells—in glioma progression and their modulation of the tumor microenvironment.
