PhD position summary/title: Call for applicants for a PhD position in the field of audiology
Otitis media (OM) is among the most common diseases in young children. Although the associated hearing loss usually resolves with time, studies have shown that recurrent OM during early childhood can have long-lasting negative effects on speech perception in noise. Research has indicated that these deficits reflect impaired binaural hearing, but the exact mechanisms remain unclear. Consequently, effective solutions for hearing diagnostics and rehabilitation are still lacking. To address these shortcomings, the proposed PhD project will systematically characterize the hearing abilities of OM children, relate them to physiological measures of hearing function and speech understanding in noise, and develop a hearing-aid processing strategy for their enhancement. This will provide a better fundamental understanding of the hearing deficits of OM children and new perspectives for rehabilitation strategies.

PhD position summary/title: PhD Fellowship in Transcriptional Networks in Adipocyte Plasticity
As a PhD fellow, you will be working in the Mandrup Group within the framework of the interdisciplinary ADIPOSIGN project. Here the focus of the Mandrup Group is to investigate the transcriptional and epigenomic mechanisms leading to sex and depot specific properties of mature adipocytes in humans and mice, and to investigate how obesity affects adipocyte function in the different depots. Currently, we are investigating the transcriptional changes in mouse adipocytes from different depots and sex during short-term exposure high fat diet, and we are developing network models to understand how these changes are linked to metabolic pathways and signalling states of adipocytes. Similarly, we are isolating adipocytes from human biopsies and investigating differences in transcription and signalling states between different depots, sex, and body fat composition.

PhD position summary/title: PhD or Postdoc position in Low-Code Development for Logistics Tasks in Mobile Robotics
Logistics tasks in low-volume production represent an important opportunity for automatization via mobile robots. However, for successful application, easy programming solutions are needed to address the variability of the spatial context in full 3D. This project aims to provide an adaptive and re-configurable low-code programming approach for this problem and demonstrate the approach with the mobile platform of Enabled Robotics (ER). The position is part of the project “Low-Code Programming of Spatial Contexts for Logistic Tasks in Mobile Robotics” funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD) through the Digital Research Centre Denmark (DIREC).

PhD position summary/title: PhD Scholarships in Single Cell Dissection of Healthy and Unhealthy Human Adipose Tissue
Obesity is a major driver of metabolic complications such as type 2 diabetes (T2D), and fatty liver disease. Interestingly, the metabolic consequences of obesity affect individuals to different degrees (i.e. healthy versus unhealthy obesity), opening the possibility of exploiting naturally occurring protective mechanisms for therapy.
1. In an EFSD-funded project in the Schmidt Group, we will investigate mechanisms underlying so-called ‘healthy obesity’ related to human adipose tissue. We will apply advanced single cell sequencing technologies on fat biopsies obtained from patients with T2D, weight-matched healthy obese, and lean subjects combined with a range of mechanistic follow-up studies to determine the cellular and molecular differences between fat biopsies associated with healthy vs unhealthy (T2D-associated) obesity.
2. The project in the Loft Group will investigate how patient-dependent, obesity-induced alterations in human fat tissues affect the progression of metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Here we will analyse patient fat biopsies from different stages of MAFLD using single-cell sequencing technologies and combine this with a range of mechanistic follow-up studies to understand how different cellular and molecular states in the adipose tissue associates with advanced liver dysfunction.
