A post-doctoral position is open in the lab of Dr. Michal Šmída (https://www.ceitec.eu/ceitec-mu/michal-smida-research-group/rg214) to participate in research focused on the identification of novel targets for therapy of leukemias, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The research group is investigating molecular mechanisms essential for malignant cells and/or responsible for developing resistance to current targeted therapies. More importantly, we explore how to exploit the resistance mechanisms for novel personalized therapy. We are seeking a talented person with expertise in cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry to perform various large-scale drug screens and genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 cellular screens with following in-depth validation of the screening hits and detailed elucidation of molecular mechanisms. The aim of the project will be to propose novel molecular targets to break the therapy resistance and thereby enhance the success rate of the therapy in CLL or AML patients. The project will include translational research using immortalized cell lines, mouse models and primary patient material. State-of-the-art technologies such as genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screening, next-generation sequencing or single-cell sequencing are available in the laboratory and/or local core facilities, and are accessible on a regular basis.

The Galactic Nuclei and High-Energy Astrophysics research groups in the Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, invite applications for a number of postdoctoral

A postdoc position is currently available in Alemeh Zamani research group at the Department of Anatomy, known for its dynamic and welcoming work environment. We are looking for an inspired applicant to lead a collaborative and generously-funded project exploring the immune-reactivity of the brain barriers in disease. Our main focus is on understanding the modifications that occur in brain barriers during Alzheimer’s disease and neuropathy, using cutting-edge techniques such as next-generation sequencing and advanced proteomics methods. A special interest will be in investigating the regulatory functions of the brain barriers in systemic and local inflammation.  

We seek a strong willed, hard working postdoctoral candidate who will be embedded in different projects, aimed at characterizing newly identified factors in the lab and important for the successful formation of the gametes, by employing the metazoan Caenorhabditis elegans as a model system.

The work will be focused on studying the cardiomyocytes differentiated from patients harbouring cardiac mutations resulting in arrhythmia and/or cardiomyopathy. Genotype-phenotype relationships shall be studied to decipher mechanism of disease onset and progression as well as novel therapeutic targets and interactions of drugs already in clinical settings.

The fellows’ responsibility would include analyzing and interpreting data from multiple assays, structural biology, mechanobiology, genomics, proteomics data, and data on drug toxicity.

The candidate will develop research protocols and carry out experiments. Data collected shall be analyzed in a complex manner.

Dive deep into the biology of cancer cells by joining Stjepan Uldrijan Research Group. We’re on a mission to decipher molecular mechanisms controlling the oncogenic ERK signaling in malignant melanoma cells and contributing to melanoma resistance to targeted therapy. Our recent breakthrough findings have the potential to translate into new, more efficient treatment options for this aggressive cancer.

We are offering an opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher with a background in applying mathematical models to the study of the brain to join a newly established group at the First Department of Neurology at Masaryk University.

The goal of our research group is to create robust computational frameworks with which to better understand how information is processed across the vast range of scales observed in neuronal systems — i.e., from the microscopic (individual neuron), to mesoscopic (neuronal circuit) and macroscopic (entire brain regions). This is a timely and ambitious direction of research, as the rigorous physical frameworks that have pervaded all other fields of science and engineering have yet to make their impact on modern neuroscience.

We are seeking a talented and motivated candidate to join our team to pursue the mechanisms and functions of primary cilia. The primary cilium is an antenna-like organelle that has emerged as a fundamental regulator of embryonic development as well as tissue homeostasis. Consequently, the deregulation of its assembly, maintenance, or function leads to numerous human diseases, collectively termed ciliopathies. It has been estimated that cilia dysfunctions are responsible for as many as 100 human diseases. However, the mechanistic explanation of primary cilia assembly and function, crucial for the understanding of cilia-related defects and their therapeutic targeting, is insufficient.  

The successful candidate will join the lab of Dr. Lukáš Čajánek at Masaryk University in Brno. The lab has a long-term interest in revealing the molecular mechanisms of cilia assembly, maintenance, and cilia-mediated signalling in relation to the components of so called distal appendages localized at the base of primary cilia.

Our Neurobiology group uses cellular models (human induced pluripotent stem cells) to study Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathogenesis in vitro. Our in vitro models include a large portfolio of neuronal cell systems, including 2D neurons and 3D cerebral organoids. We aim to study, and ultimately to understand, the mechanisms of AD initiation and potential treatment for AD.

We focus on mechanisms of neuronal differentiation, cellular senescence, metabolism, endosomal trafficking, and pathogen infections and how these processes influence the pathobiology of AD.

The rapid development of digital pathology and AI-based modelling approaches offers a perfect opportunity for discovering novel biomarkers for precision oncology. Over the last decade, and benefitting from several national and international projects, our group acquired a large corpus of multimodal data related to colorectal cancer. In this context, the Postdoctoral Fellow will develop new machine learning/AI methods for finding predictive biomarkers from pathology images and combining them with other modalities, such as transcriptomics and metagenomics.

A post-doctoral position is open in the Radek Marek Research Group to study relativistic effects in chemistry and NMR spectroscopy. The research project will investigate relativistic effects on chemical bonds, chemical shifts, and NMR properties of paramagnetic materials (e.g., CEJ 10.1002/chem.202200277; CR 10.1021/acs.chemrev.9b00785; JACS 10.1021/jacs.6b02749). State-of-the-art computational and analytical tools are available in the laboratory and supercomputer centres, and high-field NMR instruments in local core facilities are accessible on a regular basis.

We are seeking a creative, independent and driven individual with documented research experience related to this position. Candidates with solid research experience in computational quantum chemistry or theoretical spectroscopy are encouraged to apply.

We are searching for an experienced, innovative and highly motivated scientist for the research topic “Using different types of data to further advance the field in human, animal and ecosystem risks from pesticides”. The topic is focused on existing pesticide-related data collecting, processing and analysing to construct tools for the pesticide emissions, exposure and risks estimations and mapping for European countries. The excellent skills are required in: data analysis/engineering, programming in R and/or SQL, databases, environmental fate modelling, and GIS. Previous experience with the topic of plant protection products and experience in risk assessment is advantage.

The position is open within the international collaborative H2020 project SPRINT, with the main aim to develop a Global Health Risk Assessment Toolbox to assess impacts of plant protection products (PPP) on ecosystem, plant, animal and human (EPAH) health.
