Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow (Health Implications of Gender Inequality)
The Centre for Family and Population Research at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting 2 Postdoctoral Fellows for the project. This research project aims to develop an evidence base on the role of gender inequality in shaping women’s health in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Using the life course framework, it endeavours to illustrate a series of novel pathways linking gender inequality and gender-based adversities with the health and well-being of women in mid and later-life. The project’s objectives include research publications on the topic, the establishment of a global research network on gender inequality and later-life health, and the production of a policy document containing a summary of key research findings, research, and data gaps, as well as policy suggestions.

Postdoc summary/title: Research Assistant/Associate (Dept of Biochemistry)
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant/Associate position with immediate effect in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be on a 1-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension. Membrane transporters regulate the transport of nutrients through cell membrane. Our previous work has shown the importance of these transporters for animal physiology (Nature, 2017, JBC 2020, Nat Comms 2021, JCI 2020). We are currently interested in studying the roles of membrane transporters in the lysosomes for better understanding of the transport of metabolites from the lysosomes for cellular functions. Interested candidates will have opportunities to enroll in a PhD programme in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow (Terrestrial Biosphere Modeling)
Climate-driven changes in the terrestrial carbon sink of tropical Asia” will make use of state-of-the-art Terrestrial Biosphere models (TBMs), in combinations with multivariate observational constraints to establish a credible account of tropical Asia carbon sink in the past 20 years. The overarching goals of the project are to examine the historical change in tropical Asia terrestrial carbon sink, to assess the climatic sensitivities of the carbon sink and to identify parts of the region that should be prioritized for reforestation and conservation as the climate continues to change. The candidate will be responsible for completing the scientific tasks of the project, lead and contribute to publications, and is expected to work closely with the other postdoctoral fellow that will be hired in the project at the Department of Geography, NUS. Besides contributing to the research activities of the project, the successful applicant is expected to support in a broader sense the research of the Ecohydrology group at NUS, thereby providing occasional support to graduate students (MSc and PhD).

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow (Disorder and Interactions in Topological Lattices),Centre for Quantum Technologies
At the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) and the National University of Singapore we have a postdoc opening for our project on ultracold Fermi gases in optical lattices. In general, our lab develops quantum technologies for the control over quantum matter by selecting internal electronic states by laser spectroscopy, manipulating external degrees of motion by cooling and trapping, and tuning of interactions by magnetic fields. We are extending our tool set to optical lattices where we intend to perform quantum simulations of many-body quantum phases. In this interdisciplinary project we are in particular interested in disordered optical lattice potentials and interacting atoms to study localization effects. In close collaboration with a locally based, internationally leading condensed matter theory group, we intend to explore such systems for topological lattice geometries like the hexagonal symmetry, which is of great interest to real world materials. The project is based to be implemented in our existing experimental platform that allows for the production of a large ultracold sample of fermionic lithium with strong interactions. The group is led by principal investigator Kai Dieckmann, who worked throughout his career on topics in ultracold quantum physics. Before coming to Singapore, he worked at leading groups at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is expected to play a pivotal role in our research team. If you enjoy experimenting with cutting-edge technologies in a state-of-the-art laser cooling laboratory you are welcome to join our team and participate in ongoing measurements from the start.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow, School of Computing
In the new program, we will take this work forward further. The vision of our research program is to retain the workflows of software construction as they exist today in the form of Continuous Integration (CI) systems, and yet support automated software evolution with formal correctness guarantees, thereby engendering trust in automatically generated code. Our research program can help achieve such a vision via analysis, verification, and test generation. Applications of repair studied in the program will include security vulnerability repair, patch transplantation across versions of major software systems such as Linux, as well as the use of repair in intelligent tutoring system that we have developed at NUS, for teaching programming.
